A fake death

So a friend of mine was killed in a car crash last year after a graduation party. Another friend was the driver and he was drunk.

So this year the school district in my town decided to try and fake a students death this year to

"raise awareness about drunk driving"

The word got out before they could do this. I think this is a little screwed up, and kind of a dishonor to my friends death.
Was wondering what others thought about it.

thats fucked up.... sry to hear that btw vibes to everyone hurt by the loss ++++... but that just wrong it is kinda a dishonor and the intentions were good but it wasnt the right thing to do... its easier to put like drunk driving facts in all school rooms and stuff about how its so bad than to fake a death... ppl would cry over that and the kids would probably b pissed about it once they knew the truth... thats my 2 cents

they have been doing that at my highschool for the last 6 years or something. shit is pretty messed up they have a fake car accicdent and have students from the highschool in the car in the parking lot all covered in blood and stuff

that is fucking wrong. so disrespectful. I would think that the death last year would still be in the back of kids heads. adults often think a message doesnt sink into our heads, they think were thick, but that is too much. Fucking with emotions like that should not be allowed. I'm amazed that that idea even crossed their minds, fucking people.

its like real shit too, the helicopter comes and lands on the field, they use the jaws of death, fake blood.

it scares the living shit outa people. as harsh as this may sound i dont think its a dishonor at all. its raising awareness alot.

Thats nothing like the OP is talking about. What you are talking about is a mock accident and most schools have them. His school wanted to actually fake someones death.

my school did that before prom last year, we had a mock car crash with cops, ambulances, kids parents, and a helicopter. I have honestly never laughed so hard in my life

do it everry other year at my school.  the AD comes fire police EMS and coroner come the drama kids all get dressed up and made up to look as if they were in a car crash, had a student die in a crash three years ago, but the shcool does it to show kids what drunk driving can and will do.

that would be so awful. there was this kid who hung himself at my school because he had been getting beaten up a lot and the day before he hung himself i walked with him to the 7-eleven at lunch and he seemed really happy and after wards he thanked me and i thought it was kinda weird but then the next day i realized why...

That's a bit of an extreme view. It's called every 15 minutes(at least at my school) their not really faking people deaths. Everyone knows it's fake before hand, it's done to give you a glimpse at what's it's really like to lose people close to you.(vibes to op for going through that) We had an assembly where the kids that "died" read letters to their friends and families..... It was heavy.

why do they waste the time/money/effort? The kids that are gonna do that shit let those assemblies go in one ear and out the other, so its preaching to the choir.
Besides, any fucker dumb enough to drive drunk gets what he deserves, the only reason the rest should care is because they are a hazard to others.

4 deaths in the past year or two involving car crashes that i was friends with really pisses me off. yeah, i get that it is to raise awareness, and it may work, but i feel its very dishonorable to the ones that have died.

a kid from my school was killed while on his motorcycle, he was hit by an offduty drunk cop.. so fucked up and it's such a tragedy.

well there's no honor in those that drive drunk in the first place. its the most selfish act you can do aside from suicide. what this does is bring up bad memories about those people staining the good memories of them.

Every year at our school they put a totaled car on display in the quad to raise awareness about drunk driving. 

Pretty much everything I've heard said about is something along the lines of: "Look what happens when you allow women to leave the kitchen"

Thats fucked up. I know they do the car crash things sometimes, but this is different. I remember coming home from a show last year. Said peace to my friends and we got in our different cars to drive home. About a mile from the town i live in I saw this faint orange flicker in this parking area. I pulled a u and went back just to scope it out. All the sudden i saw that it wasn't the parking area. My friends car was upside down in the ditch, smashed to hell. They were crying/screaming. All bloody and shit. Luckily every ended up being alright. banged the fuck up, but alive.

Car wrecks are scary shit.

Thats is probably the most retarded way to try to prevent drunk driving. Not only is it completely disrespecting the family and friends or your friend but do they honestly believe the message would not have gotten across after the death. Someone should have a word with the people responsible for this.

i think the fake death was with the fake crash, i was on a board to decide whether or not to do this thing at my school. i was against it and it got turned down, but it was an interesting idea.

Wasn't there a video posted on here a year or two ago showing this? I can understand why you would think its disrespectful, but its a sure fire wire way to send a message. It has a lot more effect than a 10 year old "Don't drink and drive" video or a teacher preaching - you actually feel the hurt and pain. Makes you think twice a lot quicker, and with more reason.

they do this at my school before prom had a med evac chopper police and everything then we got to see the trial with and actual DA... except we knew it was all fake and just like an example

our school dis this every so often. but you sit there with the school and teachers and watch knowing that it is fake. i think the op was talking about the school staging one where no no one knows that it wasnt fake.

They decided to do one of those mock accidents at my high school and hold it out on the football field.  The day before it had rained pretty heavily and when they drove the fire truck out on the field it sunk down into the ground.  When they tried to leave the tires just spun and dug huge fuckin holes in the field and sprayed mud everywhere.  They had to get a tow truck to come haul it away.  Needless to say, the football players were pissed but I thought it was absolutely hilarious.

Anyways--if they were really going to fake someone's death and not just do a mock accident, well then thats real fucked up.  That would be extremely disrespectful, and pretty pointless if you ask me

I actually think there is a small misunderstanding, on my part too. A lot of schools stage a mock car crash that would be the result of drunk driving, to help promote being responsible on prom night (or any other night), and everyone is aware that it's fake (its mostly done on school grounds too). I think the OP is saying that his school was going to fake the death of a student, without anyone knowing its fake, which is severely wrong.
