Laptop +K

I was recently having a conversation with my dad and found out that he hadn't gotten rid of his old work laptops...
He gets a new computer every few years and until recently i thought that he had sold the old ones to help pay for the cost of the new ones.
I'm trying to get him to give me one of these old computer, and he agreed to this, but my mom wont let me have it.  I have a computer for myself in my basement, but the convenience/ ability to transport a laptop would be great.  Also, i would be able to get on NS more easily.
I have already tried explaining these things to my mom but for some reason she wont give in.
To make a medium length story short, I need ideas to help me convince my mom to let me have the laptop, and not just have it gathering dust in the cabinet.

tell her you need it for college. a lot of colleges require laptops (that is if your going to college anytime soon). but if not then say its for homework and such.

Tell her you need it for all your back up information incase your computer goes down and your worried about losing your documents.

well my school has the HW online (some teachers) so say it will help with HW, then also say that you can easily do projects on it becuase of the portableness. Also i think some1 said this but you can backup your files in case something ever happens to your computer.

Say that it would help you in school with your work because you can type faster than print. Or if your mom is one of the echo friendly people say that it will save paper.

if your getting it for free then tell her to let you have it or she has to buy you a new mac next year for collage make sure she knows macs are over 1000$

If the laptop is a better computer performance wise, just tell her it will be more efficient. Also explain that it's an old computer that nobody would use anyway.

just take the computer from the basement apart and attempt to take it to school. I'm guessing she'll give in and let you have the laptop by the third attempt.

Maybe she doesn't want you to have your dads old laptop incase you find the nudies of her that are on it?

Just keep pestering them about it until they eventually have no choice but to give in. this may or may not work for you but with my parents it almost always works lol.

you can keep in touch on vacations, do work on vacations, others can use the computer you are currently using or you can sell it. how is it a disadvantage to anyone if you use it? its probs faster/better than the desktop. getting rid of old comp with create space. laptops look around the house. small and easier to get around

Say you need to start taking one to school or make up some school related crap ,,, or say you wanna do online community service or homework if shell buy that.. My mom probably would, well good luck dude
