depends on how big, i would say if its bigger than your thumb, you might need to actually put new base material, but if its just a super skinny and long, just regular p-tex will do the trick

Ya just check out the maintence thread and check out the vid on how to ptex. I even herd about some snowboarders using regular plastic and melting that in and swear that it works but I dont think it wud work out that well but u cud do if u didnt want to get ptex
