so next year,as you might know k2 is making most of their park skis with jib rocker... What do you guys think of the benefits/downsides of having a no camber ski for park

i think that it's going to have a horrible time keeping it's original rocker profile and it's going to loose its pop very quickly.

"Jib Rocker" is K2s version of what Volkl did with the Gotama and Chopstick. Flat underfoot, with long, gradually rockered tips and tails. I skied the K2 Revival at a demo last month and wasn't impressed. No pop at all. Pretty hard to catch an edge though.

i diefinitely think its a major mistake on k2's part. they somehow think that rocker makes any ski better which is false. camber works incredible on hardpack so making a skinny park ski with absolutely no camber sounds sketch to say the least. i am interested in trying a pair out but i feel like it will have no pop and make landing jumps difficult because you will constantly be wheelying away. one of my favorite aspects of my anthems is the deep sidecut and full camber. i enjoy ripping on them in and out of the park and cant picture myself enjoying a ski with no camber at all.

not sure but my friend that rode the revivals hated them. he said they were heavy, no pop, just not fun at all.

...on the other hand, everyone that rode the 2012's including myself absolutely loved them. it has a ton of camber underfoot and a good amount of park rocker. super poppy, light, no catching, but still holds a good edge. just a really fun ski overall...hopefully they'll be durable though

I think this will be better for trick landing, because they don't catch edges as easily. I take my rockered skis to the jumps, and dont eat it as much on spins, since, i don't catch as many edges, but they dont have as much surface area as norm park skis. Im always up for something new.

i dunno, ep pro's are probably the poppiest skis ive ever skiied, and i think its because of the rocker, its a different kind of pop though, you cant really pop off the tails on big jumps or you will land way backseat, but on small stuff, and jumps onto rails, they pop like crazy, which is what i think pop is most important for anyway.  k2's have never seemed like very poppy skis to me anyway tho.

Butters are way easier on a ski without traditional camber, because you aren't fighting the camber.

yeah, I have the disorderlys this year rand their great. Im hoping to get the domains next year, but am very specital on how this jib rocker works out. Hopefully it will be somewhat like the disorderly, because a 90 waist disorderly will be awesome

Wouldn't it be better to have camber underfoot? I ride ON3P jeronimos and I never catch edges cause of the rocker but still get crazy pop cause of the camber underfoot.

have you ever skiied them? skiing down a bumpy run your like constantly in the air cause you can pop so much off everything.  obviously you cant pop at all off big jumps, cause you have to jump off the middle of the ski's but i never saw a need to actually pop off the tails on big jumps anyway.

I see no downfall to having a flat cambered ski in the park.  All my park skis end up losing their camber and I have never felt any difference in "popping" on to urban or street syle park set ups.  All camber really does is allow the ski to load more while flexed in a turn then pops you out faster.  That said, I can rail turns on groomers on my hellbents and while they are no slalom ski, they carve just fine.  Infact I road my hellbents in the park for like the past month and can easily do anything i can do on a park ski.

I didn't really like the 2012's. Mostly though because I'm 6'4'' 180 pounds. I could see them being super playful though for a kid under 150.

yeah, I'm pretty sure that the revivals are replacing the extreme, which is a dead and heavy ski. But what about the domains? They are replacing the disorderly, which was a pretty good ski in my opinion. Hopefully the domain will be lighter. If not, it still sounds like a dope ski

Ha, you have already convinced yourself in your mind that it sucks. You need to ski it, then you will see the light. 'Jib Rocker' is a flat ski. Zero camber. Slight tip and tail rocker. Nothing like Volkl.

I too was skeptical as I LOVED the snappy camber on my Extremes. AS soon as I skied the prototypes of the Revival on some bullet proof ice at Crystal, I was convinced. I previously thought they would be sort of sliding out on hard snow turns and would feel way too skittish from edge to edge. Man, I was blown away. Think of how your camber fights to regain it's shape as you exit a turn. With a flat camber ski, your ski has the same reaction, but reversed. When you really pressure your ski into a deep turn, you flex through that 'flat point'. As you exit the turn, it snaps back to the way it was, giving you rebound from a turn with out any chance of hooking your ski. I hope that makes sense. It is all bout how you create the ski from the inside out. It's sick.

Half of our athletes were a bit skeptical as well. As soon as the athletes that never skied the prototypes got their new product, the phone calls and emails started rolling in. They are fired up and obviously we are too.

Salomon create also a ski which is made mosty for jibbing. Also with a rocker but it has a huge pop. Great for nose press and stuff like that. I know it from Polish Salomon team rider.

i completely agree that i have pre concieved notions my only experience on rocker was riding a skate banana snowboard for 2 hours and didnt do any park cuz it was my first time on a board. but seriously camber is proven for carving. until i see gs racers ripping gates at 60 mph on ice using rockered skis i will continue to prefer cambered park skis for carving. the rocker will probably be most beneficial for spinning on rails and not catching your edge

unless you really ski groomers super hard i dont see any point to having camber, ive skiied ep's hellbents, and the new kung fujas on groomers, and i liked them easily as much or better than a normal camber ski, they feel like they turn quicker and even with them being detuned underfoot on the ep's they held an edge amazingly well, better than my park ski's with the same amount detuned, im not sure if its because of the shape or contact patch, but they felt awesome on hardpack.  

now if your trying to ski groomers like a racer i could see the rocker tips and tails giving away too easily, but im assuming nobody on this site skis groomers hard enough for that to matter,  i used to race when i was younger, and if i can ski them on a groomer and be extremely impressed with how they feel, then any normal park skier should have no complaints.

the best i can describe it is like a snowboard feel but with more grip because of having two edges, you can make super wide surfey turns and super quick cuts and slashes, alot more than a normal camber ski, if you have ever skiied a slalom ski, its similar to that but with a way more surfey fun feel.

so if they ski groomers better, ski park better, pop just as well, better on rails, better for butters, better for pow, i dont see why anyone would think rocker is a bad idea, its obviously better than normal camber in almost every way for what we do.  its a tiny bit harder for landings, but its only actually noticable on something like ep's or hellbents with a ton of rocker and soft flex,

yeah, not going to lie, i kinda laughed at the whole 'speed rocker' thing they put on the carving skis...

sounds a bit unecessary to put 'rocker' on a 72mm carving ski... but thats just me..

For a long time, I was super skeptical of rockered park skis. I'd skied some rockered park skis for a few runs, and wasn't super happy with how they performed. Now, I think I was just confirming what was already in my mind.

Rocker in the park means better float through slushy landings, fewer hooked tips on rails and takeoffs, and every bit as much pop as a cambered ski. I don't intend to ski on anything non-rockered again.

I demo'd a bunch of k2s skis for next year and have to say rockered park skis are sooo much fun. It really is a noticeable difference in how easy they are to ski. Super smooth on rails and boxes, no catching and make butters alot easier

I wish they demoed skis around me, although I think NJ is fucked for any more skiing what with all the rain and heat we have recently.

But the jib rocker looks interesting. I already use disorderlys as my only ski so I really wouldn't mind having to use a ski that may potentially not be too great at carving on the whole mountain. And if it can carve good, then fine. But it's still a park ski, so as long as it's good there.

seems like a lot of mixed reviews, in my opinion it seems pretty good, and the fact of no pop doesn't really worry me because pretty much if you ski a pair of skis hard for one season, they will lose almost all their camber anyways

And yea, the K2 skis fealt kinda dead, no to much pop not very playfull, the ammount of rocker they used was good and they skis pretty well on the groomers, but the revivles are just like a rockerd public enemy.

And yes the 2012s are dope haha

well, i have never had problem with the ammount of pop in a ski umm... ever. my armadas have good pop my JO pros had good pop and my 2012s have amazing pop. The K2s didnt.

I've demoed just about every park ski they have next year and I'm sold on park skis with rocker. Noticeably easier to ski, no catching edges on landings, especially spring/summer slushy ones, butters like woh. pretty light from what I've seen in the past from K2. Def buyin a pair next year. Skis have a lot of pop, just overall more fun. Thats what its all about anyway right?

rockerd profile makes such a difference for butters and ollies.
It's effortless even with a really stiff ski. Oh but don't buy the crap about if you have a rockerd ski you need to have it in 190. I'm 6' and rode the surface one life at 179 and they were perfect length.
I can't wate to check out the new k2's.
