- Seth Morrison

- Shane McConkey

- JP Auclair

- Vincent Dorion

without any of these guys, skiing would not be where it is today in terms of tricks, style, equipment, etc.

big park skiers that happen to do something better or slightly different in the last 4 years have no right to be mentioned on this list.

seems like 1/2 the people in this thread don't even know who started what.

how are people trying to argue pollard or DC off the list? mind blowing.

fujas turpin candide abma pollard t hall c.r. mcconkey mikael deschenaux travis heed all did things there own way. in my mind, skiing wouldn't be what it is now without these guys. OG

Vanular was huge back in '05, and '06, remember 3rd place in superpipe at 05 usopen then 1st place in slope at 06 usopen and 2nd in superpipe at the same event? Everyone was waiting for his video parts to come out, rodeo 450 and 810 onto the keystone rail. 270 onto handrails in shanghi 6.. Vanular was the most influential skier directly before wallisch... from '05 on vanular and then wallisch should definitely be included on the list.

i remember in 05 or 09 when people still did fantasy freeskier everybody had vanular on their team, i was seeing him everywhere, then i barely saw him at all for a few years, it was a bummer.

Okay if we are saying the most influential, how is MIKE WILSON not on the list? Honestly he was doing doubles way before jon was, not to mention bringing a whole new level of tricks to the back country that really set the stage for the progression that was about to ensue.

And the hilarity of kids saying hornbeck and casabon is redic, they have made not lasting impression on our sport thus far, good as they may be

come on? wallisch, henrik, casabon, hornbeck, etc etc. how can they be considered the most influential? they may have helped shaped todays park rats. comparing those guys to people like candide, pep, pollard etc just seems stupid in my opinion.

The list of names could really be anyone. It will be different for everyone, of course, depending on when they got into it. But a lot of skiers who have brought new influences have been building on what came before.

First of all, the NCAF go without saying. That should be obvious to anyone.

Those guys aside, here is where I'm at.

If I were to associate one person with making jumps what they are, it might be Jon, or Candide.

If I were to associate one person with making pipe what it is, it might be Simon, or Phil Belanger.

If I were to associate one person with making rails what they are, it might be Iannick B.

If I were to associate one person with making urban what it is, it might be Dave Chrichton.

If I were to associate one person with making style what it is, it might be Mikael Deschenaux.

If I were to associate one person with backcountry jibbing (or whatever you want to call that which defies categorization) what it is, it might be Pep, or Pollard.

If I were to associate one person with making freeskiing what it is, it would be Tanner Hall.

the list in the OP plus Pollard, Pep, and Andy.

Andy's the first guy who was all about skiing big lines switch, and look at how many people are into it now.

Pep's handdrag 180 in Idea was the first of its kind (i'm pretty sure) and his pow butters continue to amaze me every time I try and fail.

Pollard's design -- he came up with the idea to taper the nose and tail early (i think) -- and his skiing have pushed the sport light years for me.

Without these three guys I'd still think that straightlining mogul fields is the coolest thing you can do on skis. Idea opened my eyes to a new (to me at the time) side of skiing that I will never forget.
