without any of these guys, skiing would not be where it is today in terms of tricks, style, equipment, etc.

Going to get a lot of hate about this but: The Dumont definitely pushed the sport a lot. Pushing te halfpipe scene and with his Quarterpipe record got a lot of publicity also out of the ski world, even got on the Ellen tv show. You can like him or not but he did contribute to the ski industrie a lot.

garret russel and erik olsen. 2 guys that love to ski and show that money doesnt = happyness.

Garret's 500$ 92 wagon is falling apart and leaks everywhere but he still drives the distance to shred with his buddies and always has a huge smile on his face even with that creepy stache.

and erik to show that college isnt needed either. live in your car , wash dishes and ski.

if i learn anything from anyone its from those 2.

maybe they're role models for you, and yes, i also look up to them and envy them; but in the end you'll want a better life then living out of your car; not having a college degree...
unless you plan to die when you're 30...
I too am planning on spending a summer in L2A (france glacier skiing) living out of my tent, being a ski-bum...
but right now i'd rather finish college and be able to ski with a secure heart; knowing that when i need it, i have something as a safety net to fall back on....

And even tough they're great ppl from what i can tell, i still doubt they will have an impact on the sport like the big names; Shane, Tanner, Seth,etc... only three names that have influenced many of todays skiers...

That's a pretty good list.  To make it complete you have to throw in Pep Fujas and Tom Wallisch tho, for basically making backcountry jumping and rail skiing what they are today.

as said above me, dumont deserves a spot. i wouldnt have started skiing hadnt it been for him. i mean yeah, hes falling behind, and he doesnt deserve all the attention he gets from all his sponsors, but think. as someone who hasnt started skiing, dumont is a guy that you see and think "i bet i could be like him in 6 years" so you start.

also most guys on 4bi9 cause there edits are the bomb and theyre all about having fun.

so where the fuck are we right now? Everybody thinks when they wear a tall t and some twin tips their boss. But if they are goin to the powder, their like nothing.
Skiing isnt about go the the park with huge clothes. Id say Wallisch is just a symbol of a perfect park skier.
We'll see maybe id add him in 3 years.

Pep Fujas should be on that list. But other than that pretty solid set of skiers there. I couldn't pick a winner, maybe Tanner because he has excelled at everything from urban to slopestyle to pipe to BC pillows to AK lines and the list goes on.

i considered Sage, too, but I think anything he does now was already started by guys like Seth and Shane. he just has better tricks and better style.

While Crichton showed just how big a pipe skier could go back at the WSI in '01 (it was ill!!!!!), I didn't include him on the list because CR and Candide would have inevitably blown the world's minds with their pipe amplitude at X Games '03. and as far as urban jib goes, it would have progressed with or without crichton.

i'm still on the fence about Pollard. If he contributed anything in anyway, it's that he was going to be a pro on his own terms - sort of the soul pro; with his own way of grabbing, sometimes leaving his poles at home, not crossing his skis, not spinning to win, keeping his arms motionless in the air, not getting caught up in the hype of a big photoshoot or competition.

hmmm ... i actually just convinced myself that i think Pollard needs to be on the list.

although his seggie in '03's Session 1242 was retarded, I didn't put Pep on the list because he didn't truly innovate a certain aspect of skiing - he just happened to kill a lot of different aspects all at once.

one could make the argument that Pep pushed switch landing in the backcountry - and I acknowledge that he did it bigger and better than anyone at the time - but skiers like Sage, Mark Abma, Boronowski and Marc-Andre Belliveau were already pursuing it hardcore.

and guys, you are all throwing out names that contributed, but not as much as others.

generally, the "newschool" skiers should not be on this list because they've kinda just gotten onto the scene.

yes, tom and henrik i can see... but i think this list should consist of the older skiers, which it does

candide, mik d, tanner, shane, jp, jf, mike douglas, jon

even though some of these skiers aren't old, by any means... they started as pros when they were really young warranting a long ski career

nah man, pep's segment in 1242 changed the way everyone thought about landing switch. his 180 off that big cliff, 540's both ways off the booter - nobody did anything like that till then. and since than he's still been pushing it... his massive flair in IDEA off that booter in Oregon, and his 9 in IDEA as well... the only person who has come close to showing what's possible for switch landings in pow is Charley Ager.

Dave chricton was a huge influence. One of the sickest jibbers/jumpers and probably one of the best halfpipe riders the world has ever seen. If he had not gotten sick skiing would have progressed even quicker then it already has...

Andy Parry and Simon Dumont are the only reasons I got into skiing. Parry's rail skills are incredible. He's inventive, and fucking hilarious.
And every time I watched Dumont in the x-games, I jizzed. He was so inspiring, I think Dumont should be on the list. I don't think Parry changed the game that much, I just fucking love him.
