Prosessor for eding HD

OK, so I am looking to upgrade my camera to an HD camera and i have a few in mind, but I hear that working with the avcHD format (witch is what they record in im pretty sure) is quite challenging to work with, especially if your computer is not great.  Well i have a pretty basic computer (PC) with 2 gigs or ram and an intel core duo prosessor, my computer is pretty new as well.  my question is can my computer hold up to that kinda stuff or am i looking at doing a little bit of upgrading.  +K for answers and thanks in advanced

AVCHD is very memory intensive, you're going to need more than 2gb of memory or you might be throwing your computer.

i just figured this all out perfectly for my HMC150 that shoots AVChd

download the MainConcept AVC Transcoder

take your .mts files and convert them to DVCproHD. edit in DVCproHD (the P2 file format)

the file size is way bigger but what i do is finsih the edit, then delete the DVCproHD source clips and keep the AVChd on my external as backup.


DVCproHD edits like a dream on my computer, renders fast and previews flawlessly.

here's my specs

AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 2.0GHZ processor
3 GB of RAM
stripped down (ie. better) version of Vista

and im editing on

Adobe Premiere CS3
Adobe After Effects CS4

Im probably editing with Vegas 7 and that sounds a little complicated, but im probably gonna get some more ram up in this any way
