...SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OVER THE CASCADES IS EXPECTED FRIDAY ANDSATURDAY...A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL RAPIDLY STRENGTHEN INTO APOWERFUL STORM TODAY AND THURSDAY. WHILE THE CENTER OF THIS LOWPRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN THE GULF OF ALASKA...ITWILL PUSH A STRONG COLD FRONT ONSHORE INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWESTTHURSDAY.SNOW LEVELS WILL START OFF WELL ABOVE THE CASCADE PASSES EARLYTHURSDAY...BUT ARE EXPECTED TO FALL QUICKLY AS THE FRONT MOVESACROSS THE CASCADES THURSDAY EVENING. BY FRIDAY MORNING...ACCUMULATING SNOW IS POSSIBLE AS LOW AS SOME OF THE CASCADEPASSES. WITH COOL UNSETTLED WEATHER EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FORSEVERAL DAYS BEHIND THE FRONT...SNOW SHOWERS MAY CONTINUE THROUGHTHE WEEKEND AS LOW AS 3000 TO 4000 FEET IN ELEVATION.POTENTIAL SNOWFALL OF 2 TO 4 FEET ARE POSSIBLE AT AND ABOVE THEPASSES FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...WITH THE HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONSEXPECTED ABOVE THE PASSES.$$

Freezing level 1800 metres.
Mountain top winds southeast 60 gusting to 90 km/h.
Tonight..Periods of snow. Snow at times heavy this evening.
Snowfall accumulation 15 to 20 cm.
Alpine low minus 3.
Freezing level lowering to 1300 metres overnight.
Mountain top winds southeast 60 gusting to 90 becoming southwest 50 gusting to 80 this evening.
Friday..Periods of snow.
Snowfall accumulation 10 to 15 cm.
Alpine temperature steady near minus 3.
Freezing level 1300 metres.
Mountain top winds southwest 40 gusting to 70 km/h.

that storm aint lookin too hot for us southeast alaskans (which includes Haines). its pretty rainy. we had some snow fall in late october but now temps are rising. lame.
