The spoiled brats comment was out of line for sure. So my bad on that. It is a good topic though.
Back to logical talk...
I do know enough to write you a novel on how supply side economics do not work in America. The fair tax is REGRESSIVE on income on higher portions (directed at the person who said it was progressive) Yes it is progressive on consumption, but barely. There are sooooo so so so so many rich people loopholes in taxes (look up the estate tax) and they are still complaining about taxes? Yes our tax system
The realness of this scenario is in purchasing power. Let's say we give the tax break to where we want it to be consumption wise, this won't work because the real wage of this country and of the common people sucks. It's horrible. It hasn't risen since the 60's. This is one of the major downfalls of the supply side economics all these Reaganists love to ensue into their ideology which only wants to bring money to themselves (understandably so). ANYWAY, what I don't want to see is an even greater distribution of wealth where a select few capitalists (I use this term strictly in people who own the means of production) are essentially creating a modern day run society.
The positive side of fair tax but also potentially dreadful. Our country is doomed into a perpetual state of consumption right now. What happens if we reduce the ability to spend by taxing it, subsequently we raise the subsistence level of the average person, cause inflation, and who will bare the burden...not the companies, that's for sure. I do like the effect it has on sort of pushing the economy back into a production mode.
