Video Of The Day Question/Issue/Anger

Alright Well I posted my feeelings towards this in a previous thread not related to the topic directly and I feel that it needs to be addressed here in its own thread. I undestand that there are ski companies on here that advertise and pay you guys or what ever, but there is NO reason that they should be the only fucking people gettting video of the day. I feel like video of the day should be members only, like actuall edits...Not..."Rage films on Itunes..KEWL" who cares..there is 5 threads on it and everyone sees they posted it already in video section. Then 4frnt weekly bullshit, that should have its "own" channel like you talk about. And salomon should never have vid of day as they have their own channel. People with ORange Names CAN! have vid of day but make sure its a real edit...I am just sick of seeing fucking companies with advertisements as video of the fucking day. Its really annoying, I would much rather see regular member videos as vid of the day, I get way more pumped on what kids in the community are doing rather than large companies...that just pisses me off...

Thoughts...?

We do often bump up user content for the Top videos. Just because its an orange name also doesn't mean that its a company doing promotion. A ton of pros and semi pros are orange and contribute a ton of content which shows up there as well simply because more users view and rate them. Most of those are displayed based on rating, not simply because we elect them to be there. Now we don't watch every video posted on the site, so if you see something you think deserves to show up there then rate it high and it will be added to the top rated. If there is something you think REALLY deserves to show up there then message us and let us know, we can give it a little nudge.

All of this is in an effort to organize and launch NSTV.

By your logic, we should not put things like Chug Life, Travelling Circus, or any of the other cool webisodes in there.

The idea is to bring series together that have organized launch dates, and give them promotion on the homepage. There are some partners that are presenting really neat series on a regular basis like Salomon and 4frnt. I want to get this stuff out there because its awesome content. If it was shitty we wouldn't put it up.

User videos get in there all the time. This is a way for exposure to get listed alongside the pro stuff.

Well i Feel like with webisodes people are still going to watch them and maybe if you had a "webisode" channel like the salomon channel then it would give more opportunity for user videos. And to Macmahoon: i undestand that all orange names aren't companies. I believe there is one up there right now by kutcher or soemthing and obvi he is just a normal person with a relation to the industry, which is fine, cause his was an actual edit. I just enjoy watching what other members have posted not so much what major companies post...especially the ones about posting on itunes. those make me NOT want to watch them.

I agree with this kid in alot of ways. Cut back on the big company videos in VOD we already know they're awesome and could find these vids and info on their own websites.
