So i just got EDIAS and Re:session on itunes and am probably going to buy refresh on DVD. Here's my thoughts on the two i've seen, tho. share your thoughts on any of the new flicks too.
Both of these movies were so sick! Big mountain is probably my favorite "genre" of skiing, followed by backcountry jibbing, then park and urban. I get alittle bored watching rails for a whole movie, but over all i get pretty stoked watching anything.
Basically, EDIAS has the sickest backcountry jumps, the sickest park segment, sick urban and one of the best pipe sessions i've seen, however it didn't really have much big mountain. After seeing TGR stuff you realize that the lines the park guys are doing really aren't even touching what the pro big mountain dudes are doing. nonethelss, it was a sick movie, it could've used abit more plot and big mountain tho.
I've seen most of the TGR movies for the past few years and till now high life from 03 was still my favorite. the past ones seemed to get alittle borring and their jump segments weren't that impressive. Re:session, however is probably their best film, and despite having hardly any park and no urban it feels well rounded, its got a sick vibe and just plain gets me stoked to ski. And the big mountain is insane, along with some of the backcountry jibbing the guys are doing.
My favorite segments were:
-Dane Tudor--this guy slays, one of the best segments i've seen.
-AK segment--i just liked the big mountain addition
-Tanner's pipe bit
-The park super session/lift cable grind--this is sick in so many ways
-rettalack--powder seggys just get me stoked
-final segmennt (i forget the skier) but his double on pyramid gap is intense.
-Sammy Carlson--not much park but adds alot of sick tricks in the backcountry to the movie
-Sage--my favorite segment of his so far, which is saying something. over all it just rocks
-wiley Miller--i didn't like his seggy in UTI, but in this movie it was sick
-Tanner Hall--he slays everything and throws 7's in big lines.
-Dana Flahr--he just charges as always
-Also, the deep pow in Haines is pretty cool.
