Intro to Metal

Hello NGS and all you metal heads.

I'm in the mood for hard, head banging metal. But I don't like the crazy weird screaming the whole time. I don't mind it for parts of the song, but I'd like to hear some words.

Really I'm just looking for some beginner's metal. Great guitar parts, some fast, out of control singing, and loud bass/ bass drums.

Can anyone recommend some artist or specific songs?

Opeth has some very melodic folk like metal and some hard banging with singing and with screaming in some songs too.  I've also been listening to a lot of Falconer lately, it's medieval metal, kinda cool, with no screaming.  Megadeth is a must too.  If you want some movemental stuff, look up Dream Theater.  Look up Apocalyptica too, they are 4 cello's that cover metal songs, mostly Metallica stuff.  Then onto the  thrash/screamo stuff, Children of Bodom

both bands are great these are just a few songs that i like, theres a ton more by them but it would take forever to list. ATRs latest album "overcome" is really good as is KSEs album as daylight dies, and the end of heartache

i agree, they are one of the first metal bands i started listening too. they are heavy and it is mostly screaming, but in my opinion the screaming is alot better for first getting into metal plus jeremy sings well too at parts.
