hey guys I am looking for a new binding. I ride on a din of about 7 or 8. I was looking at either the salomon or the marker. I really want to STH 16 but the din range is too high. The jester offers a lower starting din which would be perfect. I weigh about 65kg ad am a very aggressive skier. My bindings really take a beating but i am looking for a super light binding. Is the 14 driver dirt or good? Thanks
the driver is good. the jesters are 6 to 16 but in reality you dont want to be down within the last two DIN settings on binders IE: if you ride at a 7 and get jesters that is not ideal. the din wont be true necessarily and you could have problems with prerelease. Id go driver.
i had both these bindings and id say go marker. the salomons NEVER released when i wanted them too. and when they did release it was too late. also when they release its so harsh and crazy that it hurts you releasing! so later that year i got the jester and id never go salomon again. jesters stay in when you want them too yet release when the times right. MARKER fosho.
If you ride on a 7-8 DIN and weigh 145 lbs., I wouldn't be looking at the Jester so much as the Griffon. Lower DIN range, but still high enough (12) that you won't be stuck at your current DIN if you grow. To be honest no one needs a 16 DIN binding. Go with the Griffon and save some $ at the same time.
Im stuck between these two bindings as well. I´m 5`9 " 165. I´ve read that the Jester does not have upward release in the toe, is that correct? Is the STH 14 driver the same?
this makes perfect sense, why get a binding with a din of 14, when u only need 12, save money, and like said above, u dont want to be in the first 2 din settings, its not safe, save osme money and get the griffons, they are super light too
Vertical release is not as common as you might think. Very few bindings have it. The PX toe is the only one that comes to mind as well as the geze toe. Its not a big deal
ya vertical release isnt necessery really. knowing me they would come out when i dont want them to. 4frnt has vertical release to i believe. but ya still jesters or griffons. salomons release system isnt the greatest.
