Huckers who can't ski!?

This is one of my first times posting out of my regional forum, but after just having a huge discussion in my regional forum about this topic i wanted to bring it out in the open, i think most agree with me when i say one of the only things holding back newschool is hucking, freestyles about style and control, not 'spining to win' and hucking, hucking may of maybe at one time been cool, but its a thing of the past, and another thing newschoolers who can't ski but think they are the best freestylers on the planet, in my opinion a good newschooler combines a mix of park/pipe skills with backcountry/pow pow and carving skills,lets put a stop to this hucking and freestylers who can't ski crap....peace

im not sure what the reaction to this forum is gonna be like, I personally like to make sure that my skiing is up to date with my park abilities because I would hate for something to say he cant do anything but the terrain park.

I'm tired of people hating on other people for just doing what they do. If someone can't ski but can jib, whatever! Let people have fun even if they're posers and just chill. People can annoy you but it's not that big of a deal is it?

if thats what your opinion is u have a right, but i think most newschoolers want to think they are helping newschool evolve etc etc, but by hucking what they don't know is that they are really stopping progression

I just don't think progression should ever get in the way of an individual's fun. If they enjoy hucking, but can't ski piste too well, at least they are having fun and not worrying about how they are progressing.

But why would an individuals skiing effect the overall progression of skiing? Who really moves this sport? It's not your average skier, or even average to great skier, it's those skiers at the forefront of skiing and they tend to be gifted in most areas, along with the best skiers come the manufacturers to move things the way they see right.

i think that the way you put it is wrong. if people want to be park rats, let them. they are still good freeskiers if they can ski park hella good. what you said is like saying racers are bad skiers cause they cant do park.

Lol, dude I'm not some newbie beginner. It's ok, I'm just trying to put my point of view accross. I honestly don't think it's those guys who push skiing's progression. We just follow, or I do anyways, I've never done anything to push the whole sport of skiing into new terrain or ideas.

:) But really, do you think a few guys that only huck are really hurting the sport's progression? I mean, I've seen it in biking, people really did get stuck on hucks, but skiing is different. People are adding style into hucks, CR, Pep, Seth, to name but a few big names who are actually moving the sport away from hucks being plain falls out of the sky into pow and skiing away.

um well man, ok lets get this strait, a few ppl like us hucking proply won't do shit to the sport nothing good at least, but.....it will stop thoses ppls progression and they will never have chances in comps, i'm just saying the sports about style now not hucking, if u want to progress follow the pack

i guess if you see a bunch of people hucking shit then it is an issue because it really makes an effect on the image of skiing. But i think the pros and the ppl in the vids are the ones who have the biggest effect on freestylings image. If there are just a few peopl hucking, then that's not a big deal, and you can let those ppl ski how they want.

youve got a point, let them do what they want i guess, but its still not a cool thing to do its ugly and it something really anyone can do, if you wanna get a rotation over a 5 or a 7 do it slow and smoothly over a huge jump

why are some people trying to find a definion for the masses? leave it to religions and cults to say whats best for alot of people, in skiing, you may find all around the 'best' thing, while some 80 year old guy on cross country skis is proly having more fun that you doing what hes doing

Ok Im pretty sure we have discovered that everyone skis for different reasons, skis differnet mountains, and has their own style but we wouldn't be here if we didn't love skiing so lets respect all forms of skiing!

are u against hucking or park rats in general?
either way, i see it like everybody else said, any skiing is good skiing
people looking to start are most likely going to look at the terrain park because thats the 'cool' thing to do
no snowboarder watches a guy on a mt board and says, oh lets do that
just let people ski what they wanna ski

Ok guys, here's this little tidbit. Without hucking the sport would never progress. Guys need to huck out tricks the first time around. You can't tell me that every good skier through down a steezy 9 his/her first time around. Tricks need to be hucked before they can be steezed. Without guys going out attemping things that 'can't be done' (for example a double lincoln) nobody's going to try to make them look really good. Hucking is a part of out sport. It's as simple as that.

Anyways, my opinion is that, people shouldn't be JUDGED by just their park skills, like, if they're good in the park and have fun, that's cool. But if they wanna be a good skier, they definetly need to be able to rip on the groomers and bumps or whatever terrain they might have.

Kinda the same with super powder junkies, if they're good in the powder but can't make a turn on a groomer worth a shit or ski bumps or something, they're not really a COMPLETE skier then are they?

Look at professional skiers, like Pep for example, he came into the scene as a park skier, now he's ripping down big mountains, showing that he's a complete skier. And people like Henrik Windstedt are just... damn, super skilled people.

Married nigh on 10 years now, few patchy spells but we'll fix it :)

I'm not a hucker by the way, I just like people to be able to have fun without worrying about 'progression' all the time, wether that means they stay to ripping up groomers, blasting some bumps or hucking off... hucks :)
