I'm sure it depends on where you go. Mine was pretty fun, we had a lot of presentations from deans and professors, met our academic advisers, watched a few movies. Then we had a lot of social events, a cookout, dinners, games with small groups of kids etc. At night they pretty much let us do our own thing so we got a crew together and walked around DC and went to a hookah bar. We stayed in the dorms, so we got a taste of what it would be like to live there with everyone next year. All in all I had a great time. Don't sweat trying to meet every single person; your head will explode remembering all those names. Just remember everyone is in the same situation as you, be as polite as possible and it won't be too awkward.
dont go. they are far to peppy for their own health and you play stupid games and at mine we had to make up group cheers. and they make you wake up at 6:30! i mean it was alright but you only do 2 possible 3 important things so you can just ditch the rest.
Mine wasn't bad. Got a tour of campus, ate in the caf, sat through a few speeches from important people, and then got the night to do whatever we wanted. My roommate for orientation sucked though. His girlfriend was in the hospital giving birth to their SECOND child, and he was up like all night on the phone with people. So annoying.
I went to mine, and skipped all the meetings and hung out in a lounge area and played air hockey, billiards, and ping pong all day. Then I had good grades, proving the meetings mean very little (except for the one where you get your schedule, and the one about sex ed, i learned the girls left side of the vagina has more feeling than the right, but not sure if its her left or my left....)
Lol, orientation kinda sucks--mine did at least. Most of the day is completely planned out and you don't get much freedom until night. We managed to make it kind of fun though--some kid's sister who's a junior at my college slipped into the dorms that we were staying in for the night (it was a two day thing) and brought alcohol. Smart? No. Fun? Yes. I wouldn't suggest that you do the same though haha.
mine was sick during the day sucked tho they made us go to a bunch of boring shit but after that we skipped all the stupid shit and at night everyone had freshman parties and we all got so fucked up
