BERFORE you read this, please know this is not a rant and i am not a homophobe.

I liv in an  small town of 12,000 maybe. Chicagos gay pride march was just a few week ago (i went downtown to watch it), a few months before that i saw my first openly gay couple in my town (2 men kissing on the side of the road) i didnt really care, i thought it was a little wierd but i kept walking. but after that iver seen more and more men and women interacting in sensual ways that can non-other be described as homo-sexual. Now there is a gay bar on our main street, and i keep on seeing more and more gays everywhere, its not a bad thing, just different. the thing i dont get is i live in a biggeted town of people who jack off to notredame foot ball games, so why here? is this happening anywhere else?

I'm starting to see more.  It could just be that I have become far more observant of my surroundings as I have grown older. 

Not directed towards anyone i n the thread, but I'm getting sick of the gay prejudice and shit.  Granted, I'm not gay, but It's pretty fucked up tha

Sorry, I must have hit a wrong key.

It's pretty fucked up that 75 million+ was spent on proposition 8 here in CA when we are down the shitter.  I really do not understand why it is wrong for gay people to be recognized as married by the STATE, not church, the state.  Hence seperation of church and state, yet people still voted against gay marriage because they thought it was about church.  We discriminate more against gay citizens then we do illegal immigrants.  What the fuck?  If you're paying all your taxes, you should be able to do whatever the fuck you want, yet gay people aren't allowed to be recognized as married, but illegals who don't pay taxes get welfare, drivers licenses, public schooling, and the list goes on, free healthcare, it's getting ridiculous.  Each day our country goes in the wrong step, the world is going no where.  Look at how fucking bad it is around the world.  People are fighting over religion, people are dying, Kim Jong is a fucking wacko, we spend money for purposeless reasons.  We have a bunch of stupid shits running our country.  Sarah Palin was governor, that's fucking scary.  We have dumbasses leading ojur country, we are greedy as fuck, someone slips in a store, they sue.  I'm getting quite sick of society these days.  We are becoming a joke.  Sorry to kind of wander off, but hopefully you guys are getting my points.  I'm really sick of society these days.

i agree, i think that many more people are becoming more tolerant of gays, so there fore communities are becoming more diverse. i think that people who are homophobes forget that gays are still human, they just have a different style of life.

one thing i find really funny about gay people, they want to be accepted and to not be judged, but if a person doesn't agree with gay marriage they must be a homophobe.

Yeah and we do shit to keep them out so they can pretty much walk across.  If they want to get in, it's not that hard.  Fucking pisses me off.  Our tax dollars at work, right?  If we heavily patrolled the border, we would be spending less then if we kept letting them come in.  Our country needs to change a little.

I'm only saying this so people don't agree with you. You have no idea how to protect/secure our borders. My dad was a Border Patrol agent for 5 years and an agent at INS before it became ICE for 20 more and even he acknowledges that more man power and more fences is just stupid. It only worsens the problem.

People will always find a way into America as long as America is a better country than theirs. They'll just get more inventive. Maybe try taking Mexico just a little bit out of the shitter and we wouldn't have such a problem with illegal aliens (or whatever we're supposed to call them) Our country finds it so important to fuck around with some Middle East countries and make them better places to be, why don't we focus on a country that is a little closer to us. And we don't even have to go to war with the country near us to make it better...

this. most people supporting a cause like gay rights, women's rights etc. seem to get tunnel vision at some points and discriminate against their opposites without realising what they're doing is as bad as what they're trying to stop.

Marriage was originally 100% church, so by having a gay couple "married" - even if it is "just by state" - you get the connotation that they've been married by the church. Essentially, since the word "marriage" and the church are intrinsically linked, they shouldn't be able to be married because it goes against the teachings of the church - which says that there is nothing alright about being gay.

But not everyone is a christian, or jewish or any religion for that matter. Does that mean they cant get married? Sure marriage was a part of the church, in the 14th century, but times have changed, and society and goverment have become much more secular, and marrige is recognized by the US goverment, a secular organization (meaning not church related), therefore it should, legaly, not matter who you chose to marry.

believe or not, our nation was founded on christian virtues.  their idea of marriage was taken pretty much 100% from the Christianity.  that is why it is such a big deal.





also, a reason that homosexual couples would want "marriage" is for spousal benefits.

Completley aware of that, but like the main point of my post, times have changed since then. I mean that was over 200 years ago. Things that were completly unheard of during that time, pretaining to religion and otherwise,  are common today (ex. someone not going to chruch, or eating meat on friday etc). And spousal benefits, ex taxes, are completely nonreligious issues. and even though the US was founded on some christian virtues, it includes the separation of church and state, making spousal benefits of marragie, a state issue, separate of chruch influence

i personal believe that marriage is a religious sacrament, and there is suppose to be a separation between church and state, therefor the state should not involve its self with who can marry who.  I feel that marriage is between a man and a woman, im not a homophobe, i have no problems with civil unions, i even think that gay cupples with civil unions should be some what intitled to the sharing of benifits, etc. but in all honestly i dont want to see two guys making out in public, that groses me out, i really dont want to see two straight people makin out in public either, and dude i saw some pictures of a gay pride parade on facebook, i was so discusted, i dont wana see two almost naked guys all over eachother in the streats, where im sure there are younger kids around, if i was a parent i would never want a parade like that anywhere near my family.

You can thank the liberal judges legislating from the bench for overriding the wishes of the people.  Thank God that there are still cases where people can actually (and rightfully) decide about marriage and family tradition (Prop 8 in California).

Other bullshit aside and in response to the original thread, I think that with a steadily increasing social acceptability of homosexuality, there will also be an increase in gay couples being publicly open about their lifestyles.
