Help a kid out

So i have a natural hill in my yard at about a 35-40 degree angle and an x-factor jump up to a rail. do you think that if i put a layer of astroturf down hill and on the x-factor and then a layer of snow fence over that id be ok? OR would it be better just to build a drop in? im having serious problems because im not skiing. i throw in some "k" if you help me out. thanks

ive used a really similar setup(mellow hill, x- factor and turf) for a good year now. never had any problems

what did you put on it to gain speed? (snow fence, water, soap, etc..)

well you probably wont need snow fence on top of the turf.  you will need soap and water though.  you may run into problems if the surface under the turf is too soft (grass) - you'll "sink" into the turf and it will be slow

true, putting plywood under the turf helps you slide faster, also, you might run into the problem of killing your grass and then having to battle with dirty/muddy turf that doesn't slide well. if you can keep the turf clean, just soap and water will do. if it gets really dirty i sometimes just say fuck it and cover the turf with a bunch of dead, wet leaves, which slide almost as well as snow

okay my setup is on a decently steep hill, and no matter how much soap and water i put on the turf, it doesn't slide. any thoughts?

Imho the making of a backyard jib is just as fun as using it, so i'd suggest: Just try it and over time, keep perfecting it...

so just go buy some turf now, try it, then experiment with diff. soaps and maybe put plywood underneath it if necessary, or maybe build a tower on your hill ( i did that, but my hill was only like 4ft), just figure out for yourself, its fun and you learn a lot+you get craftsy :D
