Powder Ski for next season? JJ vs Bentchetler... ++++KKK!!!

Next season I should be out in BC skiing nothing but pow... sooo I'm in the market for a nice everyday powder ski that can handle variable conditions well and still be skiable on the cat tracks. I would describe myself as more of a finesse style skier, I like having good technique, not so much balls out. Also I like to have fun when I ski, lots of switch and butters and what not, so I'm also looking for a ski that's especially playful and light weight.

So far I've narrowed it down to two choices, Atomic Bentchetler and the Armada JJ. Both have rocker/camber, both have early taper, and both are mid 180s in length, just what I want.

If anyone has ridden either of these skis feed back on how they perform in any conditions, what you liked, what you hated or anything you think is important is much appreciated and will get you mad KARMA.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Atomics, mostly bad saying that it's a very plain ski, nothing special about it, where as the JJ has been a great ski through the demo fleet.

you may want to check out the shogun from Salomon, it sounds like it would work for what you're doing. except that it is 101 at the waist, you may want more than that. here is the best I could find on it

Bentchetler has the best graphic of any ski on the market right now.  Go for the Bentchetler.  It is wider, get a little more float out of the ski man.  If they ski really similar on groomers, go for the better looking and wider ski.  Bentchetler for sure.

The atomics are a better pow ski but if u ski alot of crud go with the JJs.

Have you thought about the Hellbent?

but fo reals id go with benchetlers simply because the new jj graphic is hideous. they seem somewhat similar anyways.

The Shogun is such a joke. No rocker to speak of, and they are definitely not the first all bamboo ski.

Chetlers have less sidecut which I liked, but are also softer(which only matters for cliffs if your planning to use these mostly in pow, IMO).  You will be happy with either, but go with the chetlers, way better base graphic and like i said, less sidecut(but no worries, they still make any turn shape you want and I swear you gain speed doing any turn in pow on these).  If you want a crud killing pow ski than LL2s or ARGs?

i've got bent chetlers and i love them.  they are surprisingly versatile, great for all things powder, but can also tear it up on groomers or even in the park too.  the construction of the jj and bent chetler is basically the same.  i think they're actually made in the same factory and they have the same half cap construction.  i'm pretty sure the bent chetler is just wider and a little softer than the jj, but i haven't skied the jj so i don't know if there are any more significant differences.

i've heard the jj is an excellent ski, and i'm sure you would be very happy with either of them

Does the Bent measure a true 183 or is it more like a 185-187 like the K2 skis can measure?

i think the bent chetler measures a little bit long.  i put them up next to my brother's bacons (182) and i think they are significantly more than a cm longer.  i seriously doubt that they are 187 though.  it's a fairly insignificant difference in length compared to hellbents for example.

I tried out the Bent Chetlers this year at Whistler. We had a mix of new snow up top and slushy stuff at the bottom... so a nice variety to try them out. Honestly I can say they are one of the funnest skis Ive ever been on! They ripped the groomers so nicely, made a few inches of pow seem like way more, and were very lively and energetic.

Definitely getting a pair next year, so worth it!

I'm rocking the Atomic Bents as my next pow ski.  Love the design, I never noticed the Mammoth Logo he added at the bottom.  Reppin' Mammoth, yeah Chris.

The JJs have proven themselves as a great pow ski. That's not to say the Benchetlers have not, but I'd go for the JJs.

Liberty Genome; 141 underfoot; rockered with standard sidecut in the middle and some camber underfoot to allow for decent performance on groomers. Light as fuck for how big they are too.

i would recommend surface  live life 2 in 189. there super light and playful but still kill it on hardpack. you could also get surface new life wich are  a semmetrical rockered backountry jibbing only ski.
