End sexism in contests

I had a great idea just now. Girls and guys skiing has been seperated in terms of skill for a long time. Something needs to be done to get it on the right track! Soooooooooo, END THE SEXISM! Instead of X-games girls and guys events, lets combine em! That way, for like, superpipe, no more girls and guys events, just one big ski superpipe event.

Obviously, the girls arent goingto be going as high or doing as great tricks, so something like a handicap would be imposed on the guys so that the girls have a real chance against Tanner. But wouldnt that be cool?!?! A girl could beat out Dumont for the overall pipe contest and we could show the rest of the world that our sport is the lone one where gender doesnt make a difference!

and such a contradictory point lads to believe either a) the thread creator is a troll/alias, or b) a fool

i mean, if you don't want there to be sexism, then just let them compete against eachother, and within like a week, there wouldn't be a girl on any podium anywhere, and thus skiing will, at least on the competition circuits/level, be completely dominated by men. Not the result you were looking for.

you're retarded, that doesn't even make sense. you said skiing could be the one sport where gender doesn't matter, yet you said they would have to give girls a handicap. quite the contradiction. why would they unfairly call a female winner over dumont if she didn't ski better than him and had a handicap, and how would that show gender doesn't matter? stupid

Would it be fair to have lines or someone else telling a guy how to put make up on someone while you start from scratch? Yes, it may be a little unfair to the girl but how unfair would it be If a 900 thrown by a girl beat a kangaroo flip?

If we allowed women in to men's skiing, that would probably just completely kill women's skiing. They would have NO CHANCE of winning, and they'd all be like "fuck this shit!" Unless there was a handicap, which like has already been mentioned, is totally sexist in itself.
I hate bitches moaning about women's rights in sports. STEP THE FUCK UP and show you can kill it as hard as men, rather than crying how the segregation prevents you bitches from progressing.

The best girl skier (in the park) wouldnt be sponsored if she was a guy... straightup. MAYBE just maybe Kim Lamarre or Maude Raymond. However, big mountain chicks kill it! I've seen soem really really burly impressive shit from them

When a male skier can be without sponsors, and ski at the level of pro women skiers, that shows that women skiing is not at the level to be integrated with male skiing. Basically, women skiing doesn't deserve to be put together with men skiing, due to the great difference in skill.

Don't think that male/female are separated in comps due to the sheer fact that they are different, it's because the skill level is waaaaaaaaaaaay different.

That sounds like an awesome way to ensure absolutely no one cares about women's skiing ever again.  Almost every sport is seperate.  It's not sexism.  It's using logic because it's extremely obvious that women are less physically apt as men.  99% of the time.

there are soo many differences in a winning run for Men than Women, I have nothing against women athletes, but combining the competitions would ruin slopestyle and pipe.

I'm not commenting on the whole "girls ≠ guys" thing, but what it pretty much breaks down to is that you'd like to implement a welfare system on competitions? 

A hand out (i.e. handicap) isn't the best way to get progression into a sport; it creates stagnation, comfortably, repetition and laziness, no matter what gender.

Seriously.  Just stop.  A handicap is the last thing women's skiing needs.  What they need is some serious talent to step up and show the guys that they can compete, without any sort of handicap.  Until a chick with that kind of talent comes around, this debate should be over.  What you're asking for is MORE sexism in comps.  Please think posts through thoroughly before making them.

Here's what I did see recently regarding the level of your average women's skiing slopestlye (not a big media event like the X Games where it's the best of the best).

The Stomp Games in Schweitzer, Idaho had a $10,000 prize pool for a pro slopestyle, rail jam, and skiercross.  So it's no X-Games, but does have some serious talent going for the cash.  Schweitzer held it down and made a pretty sick slopestyle course, (big booters and two pretty sweet rail setups) BUT it only had one booter on each jump, no small side for chicks/groms. 

Sooo... when it came time for the comp, not one girl hit a single jump.  In a slopestyle course!  How the fuck does that work?  Ok so the weather was crappy, but come on.

The chicks were doing 180's off the knuckles, slid two rails, and the winner took home $500.  I'm sorry, but I find that insulting to the guys who were hucking their shit all day in less than ideal conditions, against a much larger talent pool.  (Oh ya, there were only three girls in the comp.  And they all took home money since they were the podium) 

There was a pretty serious group of guys killing it in some crappy conditions to take home the $1,000 (I think?)  prize, and these chicks essentially did NOTHING and got half of that.  WTF?  Just being at the event does not mean that you should get $$$.  Sorry girls.  I totally understand why they still gave out the prize money the way they did.  It just sucks that's how it is if you ask me.

I'm not trying to hate on the specific girls in the comp.  I just thought this was a PERFECT example of what is wrong with women's skiing right now.  Let's stop celebrating mediocrity at women's competitions.  If you can't hack it in the course or setup the mountain has.  Don't do the comp.  Bow out graciously and keep training til you have the necessary skills (I know that one girl did step out of the comp because she didn't want to straight air jumps and/or skip features, and she could have won hands down with said straight airs).  The fact that they can't step to the course is what should motivate chicks to progress.  NOT MONEY!.  In this case, I seriously think the prize money had a negative affect on the comp.  in my opinion the girls slope should have been canceled, and the prize money given to the guys.  But that's me.

When there's a pro female skier (Kaya Turski?) who has anywhere near the bag of tricks your average pro male skier does I'll support changing the way comps are judged, but no chicks are at that level YET. 

Maybe someday.  Sorry about the rant.  This thread is HILARIOUS.

no, no this is different.  When there are more girls skiing cause you guys rip harder, more money will come in and more popularity will follow etc etc.  Men have evolved the sport faster and created a new extreme sport.  Women do not deserve anything.  People deserving things is inequality right there.  This thread die.
