4frnt and Armada? questions.

Ok, I have been hearing all this hype about these 2 companies. Are there products really that good or do people just like them because they are new little companies and people want to ride something that not alot of people have? I'm one of the few and only skier at my school, but I non stop hear the snowboarders talking about all these tiny companies that I've never even heard about and talk trash about the big companies. They can't be all that good if you think about. They dont have the money yet or the materials to produce a real quality ski. Just a few questions. Whats your input?

every sentence in your post could be a valid argument. it's really too early to tell if they are actually quality. but i like my 4frnts better than my fischers if that helps

first off, if you would have done some research on your own, skiing is headed in a new direction. Nothing had changed in the skiing world until the twintip was introduced. People were skeptical at first and twins didnt really evolve much, until the last couple of years. Pros such as Tanner (hall) and matt sterbenz didnt like the companies that were providing them skis, the people in charge wouldnt listen to them about how they wanted their skis to be made, so they took charge and got things organized to get what they wanted in a ski. Many other pros started to prefer this idea and helped all they could.
Everything evolves over time and twin tipped skis are about in the stage that snowboarding first took some 6-8 years ago when new companies appeared with new boards that the riders had final decisions on how they were produced.
well, thats a part of the story i guess.
To answer your question, fuck the hype. Try them for yourself and see what you think. I guarantee you won't be dissappointed.

my 180 msps (w/ s912ti's) weigh less than my fischer nt's (w/ c610's), and both setups weigh FAR less than my dad's 180 scream10pilots. haven't had any durability issues with either, and i weigh 190. i don't take my msps on rails though, since the edges of my fischers were trashed from rails already - still perfectly intact, just duller than a butter knife

I have the 180s and im about 6'. I think that 180's are the best size if you are around that height. The ski is stiff, but you can still do tail butters, nose butters are hard though.
I've skied my pair about 10-12 times and they are in great shape. Although, i am careful with where i take them and I wax them ALOT.
They are such a stable ski, especially switch. They will MAKE you a better switch skier, its sick. Since they are stiff they will break through crud and save your ass so much from wrecking and eating tacos. The tails NEVER wash out. you can usually ride things out on your tails if you start to get out of conrol.
The sidewalls are strong as hell too and i have no chips in mine yet, they are made from some sort of ptex. The topsheet scratches but doesn't really chip off. The edges are so strong too. I have hit quite a few rails and no edge roundness is really evident.
To sum it up, best ski ive ever had and I am going to stick with my frnts.

here's what i've heard about armada quality; it sucks! apparently they delaminate pretty easily. although im sure they're pretty good about warranty, sending skis back means time off snow

yea, ive skied some 176 ar5's and they were so fun! The flex is perfect for jibbing. They just feel so great on the snow. My friend did have delam probs with his tail edges, they both came out but it really doesn't effect much. He is pretty hard on his skis though. But they still work fine. I believe that the next Armada models will be finely tuned and shouldn't have probs. The skis are sweet though, I wouldnt mind having a pair at all.
All y'all seriously need to take a run on some, its worth it. IT's like no ski out there.

I ride the AR5 since march '03 and they're still mint. Minor scratches on the topsheet, that's all. A great carver, even when center-mounted, easy to ride switch, easy to spin. I don't know for rail. They're a little heavy though...(Look p10 mounted)

Concept kid. How can you say that tanner and such switched companies becuase they werent making a ski that they liked. Thats the biggest bull shit comment I have ever heard in my life. Did you ever think that they are paying those kids big bucks to ride there ski. I can really see tanner not wanting to ride rossi because he was having trouble throwing his new innovative trick. Can't You concept?

i would def. go w/ armadas, they have alot of riders form alot of bigger companies that left their sponsors to join/ start armada. the reason they left their sponsors were ecause some of the sponsors(rossi, dynastar...etc) were getting so large that the skiiers (tanner) no longer had any say in what they wanted in their skis. for sure go w/ armadas.

i have had 2 pairs of ar5s and they both sucked dick. the first day the tail plates fell off and then the edges started to pull out about 8 ski days later. they're customer service is good though.
Tahoe20 how do you know why they left they're other sponsors, have you asked them. probably because of money. it always is

I have two buddies with AR5's and they both say the ski itself is sick. The only thing is that both their pairs are falling apart. One has a tail spilit and the other cracked his edge the first day out. The company is good with warranty but unless you have an extra pair lieing around then be careful before you purchase. It took my friend like 3 weeks to get his new pair in.

4frnts are strong as hell, you wont have to worry about them durability wise. The topsheet does scratcha little bit, but nothing more then that

I purchased a pair of frnt's 170 model and they're pretty fucking nice. They ride any terrain pretty well from powder to the park and pipe. I haven't demoed the Armadas yet but the construction on both skis are highly similar. Both brands are made to take a beating and are really build like a snowboard.
