Bending SAS140 brakes

I know how to do fks brakes and got mine to 130, and have seen the tgr tutorial thread on doing the p18s.  My question is is it possible to get the brake out of the plastic housing on the sas and px style bindings?  It doesn't seem like there is enough room to get the brake in a vise without doing that.  If anyone has done it and knows how, or knows that it isn't possible please let me know how you did it.

I really want to avoid dropping another 40 bucks on the 130mm brakes.

Yah I did it once when I was bored. except after i installed it the spring that pops down the brake wasn't as tight, but it'd still probably work. I didn't actually bend it because i was just taking it apart, but from what i tried that metal is a tough son of a bitch to bend.

how exactly did you get that metal plate off of the bottom of the brake housing.  i played around with it a little today but wasnt really too sure.

It is possible to bend the PX race/SAS brakes, the easiest way to do it is sandwich the brake between two pieces of wood, clamp it into a vice and just bend the brake straight. With the brake straight you should be able to just clamp the arm in the vice to give a nice bend to the required width (I have done this for Comi's and Hellbents).

 It is definitely not as clean as pulling it all apart but I have not even attempted to get the PX brakes apart, although looking at them it seems what you would need to do is punch out the pin that goes through the middle of the spring. Good luck either way you go about it, and if you are able to get the pin out easily post back up, I may have to try that method.

ah yes that is a great idea.  the problem was i couldnt figure out how to get the arm of the brake into the vise but if i put two long pieces sticking up and out that should work.  i wont be home for another week and a half but then i will give it a shot.
