Titus69Is it a turbo model? I fucking miss my 240, NH winter in it was the best.
taj.Originally a non-turbo v6, swapped with a rebuilt b230ft.

caroline.Very nice. What year is it?
My boyfriend has this 1988 240 4 banger that SUCKS in the snow and we don't know why. It has great tires, is heavy as fuck, and rear wheel drive but, it slides like a drunken sled in every flurry. We've tried weighing down the back and putting studs on it with no luck.
The automatic tranny is part of the issue but, it shouldn't be as bad as it is. Suggestions?
Kim_Jong-IllestI'm not an expert with cars but does it have traction control? In the winter with my subaru if I turn it off and give a little gas the back will slide

taj. It's an '89. Maybe something to do with the diff in your boyfriend's car?
Maybe your boyfriend just sucks at driving?
cool_nameI think the latter, possibly an auto tranny makes it harder though. For what it is worth I was able to drive my miata all winter with snows on no problem. It is just about knowing your car'a limit and driving within it. knowing how to kick the tail out can be helpfull though

Titus69Lol, Volvo 240's are the easiest rwd car to control in snow, I used all seasons until I had time to get the snows on and I could control drifts for quite some time. And yes it was auto and was the shittiest auto ive driven out of all 8-10 cars ive ever driven
CorinI'm looking for a 245 right now. I really like them, the simpleness, the fun of rear wheel drive and the cheapness. This being Sweden, there are obviously loads for sale everywhere, but I need it to be dirt fucking cheap, and not broken, and they always go really fast. But soon, hopefully.

caroline.Son of a mechanic from the Colorado mountains who learned to drive on a racetrack and is building a rally car.
Nope.
Oh well, since it's garaged all winter it's nice and pretty.
cool_nameHe just has to embrace the slide

caroline. What kind of tires are those?
ChunterAny of you bunch drive Cherokee's? I've only ever had small AWD cars (WRX, R32, etc) and am looking to buy a 97+ XJ to daily during winter and build a S13 with the rest of the funds as time permits. You guys recommend it? How are they in the snow and around town? I've read up a bit and they seem to be fairly reliabile. Feels like a great fit to have a small SUV to daily and hit some easy trails/snow with and then have a fun, quick car on the side for the weekends.
___ASP___bags are air bags, they allow you to to raise or lower the car with the push of a button so you can drive over obstacles like speed bumps, ramps etc without bottoming out. You can also air out and drop the car as low as you like. Good alternative to driving really low on coil overs because you will rub/scrape.
Car update for me, sold my R32 for $2,000 more than I bought it for after 3 years and 50,000 ams of ownership!! (not too bad for what is usually a depreciating asset!)
Picked up an Audi B7 A4 Avant, 6speed manual and 2.0T, such an awesome car, can't wait for winter!
___ASP___Finally a pic of the avant

CheeFDude, I'm from Montana. My Dirtymax mainly hauls sleds, dirt bikes, and goose necks. With 800Hp penis size is irrelevant
saskskierThat's what people with small penis's say...
CheeFNo, that's the case for people who drive powerstrokes

cool_namei would not say its trash, it is a nice truck and all. Just really unnecessary. That said their is a whole bunch of unnecessary things i would do to miy vcar if i had the money
Chubbs.with more conservative rims and a stock bumper it really is a good looking truck
