How do I use AIM to sign into iChat?

I just got a macbook and I am trying to figure out how to do a video conference. I think I need an AIM account for it to work and I signed up and everything, but how do I sign into iChat with it?

ok well im trying to remember how i did it but i think that once you have made an aim account you just have to open ichat and it will ask you whether you are want to use a .mac account or other and plug simply plug in you screen name. Or you open ichat and go to accounts and plug your screen name in there.

what does a screen name look like?

screenname@aol.com?

I tried putting in just Slaandis but nothing happened. It said it couldn't connect to Jabber account or something (whatever that is).

hmm ok well your screen name is the account name and it is what you made up when making the account. so let me get this strait you opened ichat and it did ask witch account you wanted to use and when you tried to enter you account name (your screen name) it didnt work didnt work and said something like i couldnt connect to some jabber account

Alright kiddo. Go into preferences (in Ichat) then click on accounts on the top. Then click the + on the bottom left. Then go through how you set up your AIM account at aim.com badda bing badda boom.

Sorry for the double post, but when you go in you had "Jabber" selected. on the drop down menu select AIM.
