every skier has felt this feeling, im really sure of that. the feeling when you realize just how high you popped off the lip; the feeling you get right after you realize the rail is no longer under your bases; the feeling of overshooting a jump or cliff by a mile and just realizing how painful your impact is going to be. we all know this feeling. am i right? and if you dont get what im talking about, either watch Pep's in air revert that doesnt defy physics. he really reaches the oh shit... moment about 1 second after taking off.

When you go to set a trick, and as soon as you come off the lip you realize that you set it wrong, and you get the "oh shit" feeling and then basically fly through the air backwards in a two-second bail...the worst.

As for rails, I don't even have time to get the "oh shit" feeling...I'm on the ground writhing in pain before I can even get to that point.

I had one a few weeks ago, but unfortunately not skiing. On a corner kick, it came to me and some kid in front of me. I got a head on it first and he smashed his head inot the bakc of mine. I though he broke my skull or I got a concussion, but I ddin't. For the few seconds I was dizzy on the ground it was the oh shit moment. I must have gotten hit pretty hard though, because I thought we lost and we actually won 3-2.

Boost out of the pipe first hit and realize u didn't pop hard enough. then you hit the deck and think its done, until your body bounces and then u get that feeling again as you fall from the top of the pipe to the bottom. i call it double slam haha

last season i dilocated my knee from a hard landing. i was still going up when i was goign over the lip of the landing... didnt work out. 8 weeks out with a straight brace

how bout when your hitting a 50 foot step down on a dirtbike that has a super steep landing and when you take off you feel the lip lost its kick that it had last round, then you catch your back tire and then get kicked over on to your head (thank god for leatt braces) and then you roll forever down the landing and at the bottom dazed and confused, you realize you broke your collar bone.

I remember there was an edit from Mount Snow a year or two back right when places were opening up. Some dud over shot some type of jump and yelled something really funny in the air before absolutely getting thrashed on the landing. If somebody finds it, good addition to this thread fo sho.

the first week hood opened their jump line was the the definition of overshooting. my first straight line went a little something like this.

jump 1: meh

jump 2: that was a little deep..

jump 3: SHIT i need to slow down

jump 4: FUUUUUUCCKKKKK (running-man to 60 feet of overshoot on a 40 ft jump)

my first black kicker.. over shot it to nearly bottom of landing, didn't look at wind or anything.. never been that scared in my entire life.. STOMPED the straight air and kinda jumped up after hitting the ground.. my brother got so mad at me, and i was so stoked ! haha .. good times, he was like. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING?, he were throwing rodeo 5s on it, and told me always to look how many speed checks people do, and wind..

undershooting blows... ive done both on the same jump, i was so embarassed. first time i undershot on a 5 and i landed switch on the knuckle and it sounded like a gunshot and my binding broke. second time i over shot it by like 25 feet and my body like tipped over and i wasnt expecting it and i landed on my side/1 foot and skidded 15 feet on cold, sharp, hard ice and snow over my face. yeah school wasnt to fun after that

accidentally popping of the wall of the pipe, landing on my face in the middle of the pipe, drifting in an out of consiousness for the next couple hours, waking up in a hospital on a backboard with a neckbrace on not remebering anything and think that i broke my back or neck.

i was doing a skiercross race. The last feature was a small table then a roller right after the landing. It could be doubled pretty easy with a little pop, or you could suck it up and hit both.

I didn't do either, i knew it was bad right when i took off.

I landed right on top of the roller and flew.

I had a couple of these last season. tried a flat 5, only got to 3. Over shot and landed on my face. Thank god it was warm and the snow was soft. Fortunately i didn't break my nose, it was just swollen for a couple days. The other one was right after I learned backside 270 off. I was on a 6 foot up rail, really small, went for the 270, caught and edge, going way too fast, only got to about 180 off extremely nose heavya nd one of my skis popped off. It landed on it's side and I landed right on the side of my ski with my thigh. Even though it was a tiny rail it was still the scariest thing that has happened to me. And it was extremely painful. I couldn't hit anything for a week because of the rushing pain in my thigh.

i think the most epic oh shit of all time was simon dumont's overshoot. after like 3 seconds you can just see it hes like ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shittttttttttttttttttttttttt and starts flailing and overshoots the landing by like fifty feet

I've had a lot of those, but I think the worst was actually when I was racing in high school. We had a GS race at Purgatory. It was on a really flat run called upper Hades. The finish area was just before the top of Lower Hades which was a really steep bump run, so it basically went from flat groomed to severe drop off into bumps.

I was a skinny little terd so I sucked on flat courses, and as I was getting close to the finish I knew I had a lousy run. I had screwed up on a few turns and was practically poling along, so when I went through the finish I was doing throwing the typical " I Suck " tantrum. I wasn't paying attention and I looked up and realized I was about to go straight into the control fence. I made a little move and managed to make it out of the exit opening and started turning up a catwalk. There was a beginner coming down the catwalk in a huge snowplow. I couldn't go high so I decided to try to drop onto Lower Hades and try to traverse across the bumps to stop.

It's funny how under those circumstances I thought I was going way slow, but I was actually still going pretty fast. As I went off the road into Lower Hades I knew that this was going to be very bad. I guess it would have looked like an unnatty misty, long before anyone did one. The last thing my friends saw of me was the bases of my 210 GS's tips pointing up.

I ended up flying head first about 75 feet down lower Hades wearing my stupid skin tight GS suit.
Luckily I landed on the backside of a mogul. It hurt but I didn't break anything. If I had come down six feet shorter or six feet further, I would have hit right on the face of a mogul, and I don't think I'd be alive now.

Nice story Hansel, but I'm not creative enough to make that up.

Over-shooting on a Mountain Bike blows fucking dick. Worse than skis in my experience. As soon as you hit the ground, boom, you just get bucked like shit and then go rolling along the dirt. And dirt hurts.

its not skiing but my boy brought his gf's dog to our dorm room for a while then he left to coach a hockey game, one of our friends came in the room and didnt shut the door 20 mins later we cant find the dog swarmed teh whole dorm and campus looking for this dog, while trying to think how we were gona tell this girl we lost her dog,

just as bad if not worse feeling in your gut than any time ive ate it skiing
