I am not necessarily disputing the fact that the Z12 is better, but rossignol discontinued the FKS series and replaced it with an extraordinarily heavy axial design... so just because it is a newer release doesn't necessarily mean it is better
I may be mistaken, but the 912s have the driver toepiece and the z12s don't? The driver toepiece is a bit more responsive, I think. Also i would eb wary of Salomon bindings anyway, because on mine, parts of teh heelpiece are constantly breaking and I always have to adjust teh toe height. My little brotehr had z10s on his invaders last year, he broke 3 brakes in the first 2 days of having them, on small, backyard jumps. Over the whole season he broke a bunch more brakes and also had large cracks around all the screw holes in the heelpiece. The other day, he reported sliding a fdf rail with them and having the heelpiece rip off. My friend also just got a pair of last years Salomon Thrusters with the same bindings for Xmas and he has already broken the heelpiece. I think the z12s are the same as the z10s but with a higher din, so i wouldn't say they are very durable. They're really light though. I wouldn't have gotten Salomon bindings in the first place, but they are teh only brand my local shop sells other than Marker.
not sure why everyone hates on the salomon z10. I have it and it's done it's job well so far. Always releasing when it should and staying on when it should. It doesn't seem very dangerous at all to me.
