They look sweet. I really like the new idea of the trackpad and the new network. Other then that is a basic macbook with an sleeker design. I'll wait for something better to come out with mac before I decided to upgrade from my macbook.

^ULTRA PORTABLE = Niche market. Just because it doesn't fit your need does not make it shitty. it just makes you sound foolish.
It is a feat of engineering (Intel had to redesign their chips to fit it). Its
innovation will bring about new ideas/thinking that will change how laptops are designed and used.

i really like the idea and concept of it, plus it looks freakin awesome, but at this point in time i cant imagine using it to its potential and the way it was designed. one day.... but not yet. im really liking how apple is trying to unplug everyone.... im seeing a bluetooth ipod or something along those lines in the near future....
Agreed. It's a fashion item. The solid state drive seems nice but a grand? Come on. Those will be available for any machine in the next few years anyway. The Air is overpriced and underspecced. Yeah it's thin and light but I don't see the design standing up to much abuse.
For the same price you could get a faster Macbook (2.2 vs 2.0 Air) including upgrading the hard drive to 250Gb (vs Air's 80) and the RAM to 4Gb (vs Air's 2Gb). Then sell the old HD and RAM for a little extra. Plus better build quality, more connectivity and a disc drive.
What Apple need to do is build a 12-13" Macbook Pro with a non-glossy screen and accessible hard drive like the Macbook has.
