Bike Upgrades

Hi, I'm just starting to get into mtn biking a lot.  I have a Jamis bike which is a hardtail.  It is decent, but for this upcoming winter, I'm thinking about upgrading it.  This is the bike that I have: http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/XC_Hardtail/product_123372.shtml

It's a 2006 Jamis cross country 2.0

Any suggestions to make the bike lighter, and more fun to ride?  Is it possible to get new shocks to give the bike a little more travel?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

If your gonna get into DH or djs or street at all, your gonna need a new frame def. But if just for xc a rockshox reba would be decent but somewhat expensive.

dont bother with that bike get a GMC yukon bike, i have one and it is insane take a look

are clipping in yet? if not, then start doing it. it will giv you much more control and power when riding XC. as far as making your bike light, everyting from a new wheelset to carbon fiber bars. if your just getting into mountainbiking, i wouldnt bother a whole lot with aftermarket stuff. ride for a while, and when you get a new bike later on, worry about it then. plus, make bikes lightr is not cheap.

you would completley fuck the geometry of that bike with a huge frint fork. it would be like mounting your bindings on you skis at the very tips. would you do tht? no. if you want a long travel hardtail, look into the Banshee Morphine.
