Too old to start competing?

I want to start expanding from the BC comps into competing in the park, and I'm 16...is it way too late to begin to even think about competing in slopestyle?
Kids nowadays at 12 years old are throwing down cork 9s in the park...I'm just trying to learn that cork/bio stuff this winter. Is it worth it to spend the money on comps if I'm just going to get shown up or will comps help my progression incredibly?

I started competing at 21 and I dont do many comps. I can throw a mean iron cross cossack. 16 is not too old.
