'Bush's proposed 15% increase in the military (48 Billion) is larger than the defense budget of any nation besides Russia. The U.S. military budget of nearly 400 billion is larger than those of the next 25 nations combined.'
All I know is thats an outragous amout of money all being spent on military while population and polution, grow every day. At this rate, istead of war agaist the U.S. we will destroy our selves, and of coarse skiing. And that sucks.

whats the use and point of having such a ridicuously big army when we're in pretty much a peace time, we've had no major wars or anything for over 50 years, way to waste tax payers money, oh ya and to put the u.s probably billions in debt even more than they already are

why do we need 400 billion dollars though, think of how many lives we could affect for the good by using some of that money, instead of using it to blow up the middle east.

yeah, but we dont need that much power. why do we have to be 1400% stronger than every other country, we have allies. we could concentrate on things like... not wasting our money and getting us out of the national debt because yeah, its still there, and its a shitload of money to pay off.

Because for as much technology as we had 2 years ago, terrorists were still able to plan and carry out the September 11th attack without anyone's knowledge. Its not that the enemy is as powerful overall, its the fact that they can sneak through the cracks.

^yes there are tons of countries in debt to us. Why do you think we're so far in debt. Part of it is because all those small countries that we do help don't pay us back.

Words to live by: Speak softly and carry a big stick. And to hell with spending $$ to help out all those countries that can't get their shit together. The USA has helped more people than any other country on Earth...and what has anyone every done for us?
As for global warming, the magnetic poles are already starting to reverese, which means we're heading into another ice-age. Don't worry, it'll take about 100,000 years for the poles to fully reverse.

Actually, the percent of the gross national product that the US spends on defense is actually the same as some other countries. Its just that the US as a whole makes so much more money than any other nation. But it would be wise to spend this money on education, health, technology, ect.

And global warming isn't the best words to describe the problem, its more of a climate change, some places will get warmer, and some will even get colder and wetter, so it depends on location.

not really, global average hasn't risen, local averages have because of pollution and the heat the pollution holds around city areas.

No, I believe the global temp average has been increasing. However, I don't think this is due to man-made causes, but rather to the natural cycle of the earth.

Yes, because we didn't necessarily cause holes that large. It has been determined that the earth goes through cycles in its temperature (over millions of years), and as of yet we have been unable to say if it is truly our fault or just part of the cycle.

yeah you're right, they're called terracycles, and yeah the global average has gone up slightly, but not nearly as much as the ground stations in cities are recording.

i know the earth has cycles, i also know that in the past when these cycles happened there weren't giant holes in the ozone caused by us polluting. and i yes i know the east will get more snow because the gulf stream will shift.
