Can moderators close threads that need to be, so that no one else can post in them, but are still able to view them with searching? Maybe this is a dumb idea but it seems pretty simple and would create alot less bumping of old threads that have already had the topic covered...
I frequently remove posts that bump old dumb or irrelevent threads. "Bumping" threads has it's place since the forums can move so quickly, not everyone is on every day reading every forum. For example I have gotten several questions daily regarding a product that I did a review on, so I bumped that review.
what about closing threads in the for sale section, ones where all the gear has already been sold and recieved, and there are some other examples i've seen, but lack the intelligence to remember right now...
We usually delete sale threads which are finished or sale threads which show no interest but have the seller bumping several times a day for a long period of time.
That fucks with a good system though. When a thread like faunt or how to get to chads from the bottom of alta dies, none of the new members see it. Therefore it seems right that every so often, somebody should bump this thread back to the top so all the noobs can be educated and see a legend grow. I would venture to guess that the chads gap thread has had more reads from getting bumped up after being dead for weeks at a time then from the first time it was posted. Leaving all this stuff open is part of NS, it makes it what it is. Its just one of those things you dont fuck with.
