HELP with cameras...

so im looking for a new vid camera, and i can at the max spend $800, but preferably like 600...i need some help. anyone wanna give me a cameras 101 class? also any suggestions? is it worth it to spend alot more and get an HD camera?

I recommend any Camera that is made by Canon.  Just buy whatever camera that is the max limit you can spend and find whatever model they have that fits.  I just really like their electronics.  And no its not worth it so spend hella money on an HD camera unless you are rich.  The MiniDV cameras take pretty damn good footy these days and are not as fragile as the super expensive ones.  I recently bought a Canon SD900 Still camera that takes sick ass video footage too, granted you cant film like super long shit, but it holds alot for its size.  It was like $400

I'm in the same boat as Hoodrida. ive been really considering some of the camcorders in the ski equipment forum. im just savin money for now but i mean i seriously doubt ill save up 2 g's at this point. so yea any help is appreciated!

if you can save up to like 900-1000 you could get a vx1000.
and dont get hd, its great and all for some stuff, but i dont like it.

if you could save 1000 you could get a pretty good setup
a sony vx1000
a canon optura 20 w/ a good fisheye
a trv900 with a good fisheye
you can only get trv's used though, most likely off ebay
i was in the same situation and i got a trv/'babydeath' fisheye
i got my whole setup for under 1000$
500$ trv on ebay/300$ fisheye brand new on bhphoto.com
look around www.forums.skateperception.com theres tons of info about cameras there

i bought a panasonic gs-300 for ~600. real nice camera and its 3ccd...id go with that. had mine for almost a year filmed all season with it and its still preemo

I've you're not going to spend a few grand, forget about HD. Just go to best buy, or walmart and pick up any mini-dv cam that you like for your price range. manual focus/exposure is a plus.

your not going to get shit for 800.. i got a sony hd for a bit over 1000.. but you can probably get a better one for that price..

yeah i was looking at that camear and i knows itss madds legits...save more and DONT GET a vx1000 unless you enjoy filmign through an eye hole...

save up just a little more and get a trv900 on ebay

or if you want to get a really good setup for skating
a optura10-20 with a centrury optics 1/2mk

lcd screens are mostly useless, i have a vx1000 and 2100 and i dont think i have ever used the lcd.

^word, relying on LCD is very amateur. the viewfinder is the best way.
