i rly on started biking cause there are some sick dj near my house and they were all ready built. so i invested in a bike and now i love it. too bad they are always flooded though.
I race xc in the midwest, ride road, and hopefully getting into some freeriding type of stuff. i have a trek stp 400 for xc race, a banshee chaparral and a trek 2300 (road).
if you want an alternative to pinkbike try out sicklines.com, its smaller, but better in my opinion.
what kind of freeride are you looking to get into?
also try to meet people that are good riders and ride with them because like the last couple weekends ive rode wiht the guys from the local shop and done 5-6 drops i never would have attmepted wihtyout them there
thats in my backyard. But, i completely understand what you mean about getting people to ride with. i am going to try to ride some midwest dh with some people and they will be able to push me. i also do urban when i get a chance.
hey nice drop man, props all our shit around here is mostly big rocks with some ladder stuff, if your ever goin thru spokane for watever reason check out beacon hill, its pretty sick. but yea just a coupl pointers
1. wear gloves, you really do need them
2. knee/shin on inside of pants dont wanna be a mtb gaper ummmk
^^I heard Beacon Hill is friggin sweet. I live in Whitefish, Montana, and I have some friends who have gone there. Last spring I was in Virgin, Utah, and met some guys from Spokane who were filming with Clean Cut Productions (I think). They said they ride at Beacon all the time, and that it's super sick.
yea its really cool we have some HUGE shit its only like a 10 minute ride from my house so its fuckin sick
its cool to casue if you know where to look theres a lot of hits that just move up in size so right now im doin 8-9 foot drops where as a few weeks ago i was at like 2 foot drops so its nice and ^^ ur welcom
06 Heckler with a 66 RC2X on the front and 5th element in the rear, I'm thinkin about gettin a VP Free for a little more freeride/downhill, but my Heckler has been awesome.
I'd like to make a weekend trip out there this summer or late spring. That sounds kind of like my hill. We ride or push up for a couple miles up an old gated road, and then cruise down. Have you ever been to Whitefish, Mt?
bkejumpr remids me of when i first started. on a giant boulder... that thing was such a peice of shit the bb bearings just started falling out on the trail.
i stopped after the whole, hitting a stump going down a hill, doing a front flip over the handle bars, and having bike land on me....maybe ill start up again this summer
^ i also have an stp.
the only thing that isnt roached is the nice new grips. my friend put paint and nails in my bars too so whenever i ride my bike jingles.
if you want a fairly decent bike, go with the stp. cheap plus its alot of fun. you might wanna upgrade your fork tho, if you get the second level stp. thats what i have.
can someone tell me what "dj" is. anyways, i ride a gary fisher tarpon, mostly ride "cross country" ie trails and logging roads, do a little down hill, and some road biking.
I have a CAAD5 road bike paired with a straight blade Easton ec90sl with full DA10spd and Zipp 404s as my race bike. A CAAD3 as my single speed training bike. I'm getting Specialized M5 hardtail frame for XC racing and a Fuse for cruisin and working on bike skills.
^ ive never ridden either but i know a couple guys with demo 8's and the sx looks so sick, also the ironhorse sunday and diamondback strike are great bikes, i ride a custom buit strike with my 66 holzfellers and different wheels and such so my bike is bombproof but heavy as fuck at 49 lbs.
there nice ass bikes but unless you build them up right there heavy as fuck, super plush and theyre fast, last year all our local pros rode them and a lot of races were won with those things. the strike isnt a piece of shit but all the othere diamondback bikes are, the assault is ummmk and the mission is ok at what its for but still...
noice, it seems like all bikes and companies are goin lighter and with less supension. the technology is getting better so they can make less suspension but make it feel like 10 inches
