i've never been to copper, but i'd be happy having it almost anywhere instead of vail. anyone remember during the weekend this past year at the open with ski patrollers pulling passes left and right for skiing "too fast"? that was bullshit.
....but hilarious at the same time because my friend got yelled at for going too slow.
respect the mountain. you cant be flying down the hill just because you think you're "VIP". It doesnt matter if your an Advanced (level 3) skier, you have to respect the Novice (level 1) skiers.
no actually its not, due to liability issues. patrollers only do that shit on groomers where there are gapers, and its to protect gapers not to fuck over shreddas. there's plenty of space to haul ass, just not on crowded runs. before you say fuck the gapers, theyre the main source of income for ALL resorts, they dont make money off of locals...gapers are a necessity to our lifestyle. so actually, its pretty dumb to be caught skiin too fast by the patrol.
were you there? if not then please don't even comment on the situation. they were camped out like every 100ft down golden peak, so there was no way to avoid it, especially since the slope course was closed since slopestyle was over, and to my knowledge there was no way to get back to the quad without taking that trail if you wanted to hit the normal park.
THEY DEF WERE BUT COPPER HAS BAD SKI PO and a truly terrible park i don't mean to rag but u cAN't get speed for the jumps, doesn't flow and is a bitch to lap if it were ne where in co keystone would be the best option in my persoal opinion then breck
na the last one b4 big air was prolly 70ish feet...70-80 is big but seriously thats not uncommon to see at breck all the time and at vail during the open
i think they should bring the x games back east they always complain how the cource has "fresh snow" they would'nt have to deal with that out here becides how big of a hill does they x games need? nothing really takes up that much room...
Yeah but the thing you have to realize about the big air jump at the USFO is that you can clear the knuckle by 40' and stomp piss out it. So deck length isnt really a good way to measure its size. Measure the air TJ got on his cab 14. That is why I think Vail's/Breck's jumps are ideal. their cat drivers know how to make flawless kickers.
the big air jump at the open was just under 90 feet from lip to knoll i was there when they measured... like 87 or something, so def not 50 on that one... also i agree completley with Levi, the speed and vibe of copper sucks. the lifts are either a bunny hill double that you cant see any of the park on and feels like it takes forever, or a quad with every gaper in denver that takes you like a mile higher than you need to be. there are so many tourists there, and the food is so expensive. but by far the worst is the speed... hopefully they do something like they did for gravity games, those were decent tables, but last year when we were hitting the big line next to the YGO line, we were straight tucking and barely clearing the 40 and 50 foot line and we could only do that before noon... the open would suck at copper, unless they did what stratton does for VT Open and build a course special for the event with a good chair away from people. it would be sickkkk at breck or keystone, but if its at breck they'd have to compeltley close that double lift for competitors...
exactly and it seems always hard to clear the big side at copper...but key would be sick cause they have the a51 and they're jumps are better now cause some one on breck came over... but i still don't know if they could realy mak the jumps big enogh...
thats true the last week of the season they had a snowboard supperark and the hits were huge... so key can do what ev also and they can set up a big air jump near the bottom for all the folks to watch like vail
Another problem with Copper besides speed, and lifts is the rails. The rails at Copper blow because they are all rusted over and really really slow.(at least at the YGO they were) They definantly need to get some new rails in.
