Thinking about buying a mountain bike

Ive been mt biking like 2 times and I thought about maybe just buying like a cheap one. I dont really want to spend much more than $200 and im not looking for anything special. I just want a decent bike that could be new or used.

Just go to your local bike shop. Pretty much everything sold nowadays has shocks, but half of them dont even do anything. I don't know a hell of a lot about mountain bikes, but I have a trek 4500 and it works really nice for what I use it for. That cost me like 450 or something I think.




I hate it because it looks like it should be called the Prison Shower.

The lowest price you'll get something decent for is around 800.

200 will get you a WalMart speacial, brand new and that's not how I define decent.

Biking isn't cheap.

you can get a decent downhill rig for $3,000. maybe you can buy some handlebars for $200 or something and just pretend youre mountain biking.!

dude, 200$ wont buy you shit. A 200$ bike will get destroyed if you do anything with it. My bike's worth 5 g's and i still break something pretty much every month, imagine a 200$ bike.....you'll go through 10 a season. Save up your change and go shoping with at least 800$...at least

!!!!! THIS WORKED FOR ME!!!!! to go toy r us, or anywhere, i did it at toys r us, find the bike you want. bring a knife or something metal that has an edge. scratch the bike, maybe take off some of the lettering, and some paint. call a salemen over and say you want this bike. then say o no! it is messed up. could i get $20 (or however much) off? i got $160 bike $140. worked for me!

yeah, i think you should save up a lil and go for the specialized P.2 or go on pinkbike.com or evil bikes.com and make your own bike. a buddy of mine did that and his bike is sick, its was a lil bit over 700
