I've not been keeping up with these thread because there's so fucking many of them, so excuse me if this has been discussed already:

Does anyone know if the different spins/flips/etc will be executed by using button combinations like the specials in Hawk series, or are the axis going to be controlled by each analog stick like in Amped 2? From the trailer I watched a while ago, it looked like every spin and flip was rotated perfectly but completed a second or so before landing. This suggests to me that the moves are performed using button combinations, which would suck. The best thing about Amped 2 is being able to throw any spin or flip variation by changing the degree to which you hold the analog sticks. I'd much rather play a snowboarding game with those controls than a ski game which uses combinations.

Any input?

Yeah everyone needs to chill out and buy the game regardless. There was a petition a while ago to even get a ski game better than JMMT, now that we are getting one, everyone bitches on how they want it a certain way. It is a start to hopefully a strand of skiing games, they got compaines to help so it will be sick. But i do agree with the button contoll thing, i would much rather spin with the joysticks then just pushing buttons. but if it is buttons i will still get it to support the ski industry to hopefully get a game that does spin with joysticks.

Constructive criticism from my OPINION:

-long ski poles make newschool skiers look like tools
-old school tricks are fun and funny on mountain but when representing our sport to the public in order to represent us best I suggest only use tricks done by pros in competition (and I know people throw screamn seamen ands older tricks in comps but most of the time the are playing around) critical grabs, tail grabs, mute, nose, japan, safety etc. spins, corks, off axis, and you can still throw in your crazy moves to distinguish your game as comic book style. My point being, the more focused you are on the majority of tricks being actual tricks the more excited people will be about the game and about going out and doing those tricks or watching our sport and the pros do those tricks on TV.
-I would like to know if we are your target market or people who might become a skier or are interested in it? If it is us, the most fun aspect of games is to see YOURSELF doing the trick yet in the game. Therefore the more realistic looking the mountain/skier/skis the better. Again, I know you have the comic book style of the game, but you do not have to scrap that to when accomplishing this.

These are a few points I feel would help you target us the members of this newschool community specifically (I think others please help out as well). We are very critical of how our sport is portrayed, but we do want the exposure and press to grow. The game looks great and I am sure will help us as well sell. To be extremely blunt for your benefit or understanding from my point of view an Amped style game is what appeals to me most. I look forward to the final product and hope it turns out well, looks good so far.

they use the joysticks in all the ssx games

i think what you saw in the teaser was a stalled out spin (yea it was pretty fast, but still), because if you stall out the spin in the game, you can hold the stall to the last second and then usually just realease it and it wil land.


i really agree with whoever said no old-school tricks..you are completely right...i don't want the ignorant general public thinking cossacks and spreads are cool.

I think that other than the obvious issue of the old school tricks, something that could be worked on is the skier's posture. It looks like it is halfway between steeze and a racer tuck. I think that a more relaxed body position would make the game alot better.

u use the d pad and u can pre load befor the jump the longer u pre load the faster u spin and if u hold 2 butons like left and back u would do a cork to the left

oh and about constructive things for the game producers, please give the skiers ski boots & bindings. a mystery triangle on the toe isnt a binding. make them look povot-esque for more brownie points. also, a good feature would be setting different dins so that you can choose how big of a stack you need before the skis explode off. to stop people setting dins too high, you could make it that a massive stack on like, p18s or something doesnt let the skis pop off but you cant go as fast for a while (because your characters injured)

Man, you people don't shut up. This game still has months of work on it to get done. You're all critiquing the game as if you have played it already. The skis you see in the pics are clearly not the skis that will be in the game. Those little details in the game are what will get done last. The racing stance in my opinion is great. Don't slam the proper way you are suppose to ski. I don't know why people are getting so worked up about a game. If you go on these gaming websites and read what game nerds are commenting about this game, they are all siked. And good chances these people don't ski. It's odd to hear skiers themselves talk negatively about a ski game. It's gonna be a great game.

Guys we are working with Ninthward, Armada and a few of the others you have listed. We are also actively watching this board for feedback and reaction and want to do a good job of representing your sport.

Anthony was instrumental in getting us on the right track in terms of the tricks we put into the game as well as giving us overall feedback on the physics and feel of the game.

Give us a shot and I'm sure that you'll be pleasantly surprised by what our game has to offer you guys. Any other feedback on any of the videos or screenshots is more than welcome.

dudes, i was just looking at the denmo vid and the guy was skiing on the 06 pe's and i saw a line poster, plus u can ski switch.

if it were easier it would be called snowboarding

Maybe because you are a racer i dunno? but most newschool skiers don't ski liek that sorry. So to the producers i think it may be wise if you don't go with the racer stance at all and ask one of the riders you are working with how they ski...
