Is your computer big enough to handle it? Have you tried to compress the video? You usually need a big computer to do the digital editing and playing.
i use firewire but you need alot of memory (512+) or it will be really slow...plus if it didn't come with your comp i think it's kinda expensive
You can get a firewire PCMCIA card

You need to get a real video editing program. If you're using anything but an apple computer to load video, it's gonna blow. My advice is to get an apple with firewire video transfer, a good editing program (Ithink you can get Final Cut Pro for pretty cheap if you show you're a student), and then rock the slopes with good footy and post it for all to gaze in awe at.
you really don't need a mac. pc's work just as well. you just need a firewire port. like that guy said, you can get cards for it. i don't think it's too pricy. then it's digital, so there is NO loss of quality. but for sure use a good program like final cut pro or premiere
