How not to be a poser?

So here's the deal. I'm not a very good skier but I have an anorak and I'm going to get some nice pants. I don't really want to be a complete tool on the mountain. Should I just ski as hard as I can, even though I fall alot?

I would like some serious answers.

I had the same problem last season.

If people see that you are trying to get beter, and if you ski your hardest, you won't be seen as a poser

noone can call you a posuer for repping your sport as long as you are trying.

i suck at park, but im getting park skis next year. its not like im going to progress very fast on my xscreams.

as for pants, who cares?

I feel you man, i have alot of good gear but i am not very good in tha park. But if people are makin fun of u it doesnt matter if u try ur hardest 2 become better.

i suppose having at least one trick down in your arsenal would be helpful. i'm in the same situation you are. actually i'm skiing twintips for the first time next season.

usually the skiiers are pretty cool, even if you have good stuff like they said just try really hard, and if people give you shit about it, who cares? you're not there to impress, you're there to ski. If you ARE there to impress then you are a poser. it all works out

ya just ski hard, if u push yourself, then u will progress. and thats what skiing is really about. theres this one guys at my hill with twintips and i saw him like 20+ times at the hill (its litterally a hill, about 300m vert.) and he was in the park alot. but he would only straight air the table and 50-50 a box all year long. he made me made cuz he wasnt trying anything new, so i call him a poser. if your trying to do new things thats cool, even if u fall trying

just have fun and dont be a dick, i have run into many skier's that are total prick's and turns out most of them cant even clean a box so just be nice and have fun

yeh man...i know what ur saying. wear what ever u feel comfortable in....when i started out i fell alot too...and i still do to this day(or last day skiing)....if u arent falling....ur ar not going to get better...thats for sure.

well- i know that some skiers can be comp[lete dicks about it. this wasa my first year really getting into freestyle stuff, and i would go up and try a 360 with like a safety grab, and fall. but the skiers would just all snicker and be like, "fag." and then they would just go and do a 3 and land it and think they were awesome. soo i spent a little while in the park really focusing, and then i went back and stuck a 3 safety grab to an almost-perfect 5. not that it is too impressive, but the point is that they couldnt really talk so much shit anymore.
Soo, the point is, just work at it man. it'll come to you eventually. just keep practicing.

do exactly what calskierX said and just be nice to people. if you have a chill attitude and you're friendly, people will see that you're just out there to try and get better at skiing and have fun. they won't give you shit. if you talk a big game and be a dick to people, then you'll have to back it up. when you can't back it up, they'll call you a poser. how cool your clothes and skis are don't matter, it's all about your attitude. the other day i saw a guy on 06 fujis decked out in dope clothes with reactor bindings, but he wasn't that good at skiing. he wasn't a poser though, cuz he wasn't pretentious, he was just trying to have fun.

yeah i had some pretty chill gear this year and it was my first year on twins, i didnt hear shit tho cas A. everyone over here is cool like that haha
and B. i was still trying and killing it as best as i could, i progressed so much through the year tho, from trying to get my handeling back to gaping our kink box and hitting rails.

as long as your trying your best and having fun thats all that matters thats what skiing is for and remember that if you dont scare yourself your not getting better go fast take chances saftey third or maybe down at like 10th challenge your self make your self uncomfortable so that eventually you will be comfortable in situations that are challenging and scary.
