i thought it was really cool the first week. but ever since it seems pretty lame. since u cant quote a specific part of the post it elminates the purpose. it always gets cut off at the end, and you end up backtracking to reread it anyway. it needs to be changed somehow

i liked the old forum more, it just seemed to make NS seem more unique than your average internet forum.

yea but what good is quoting something if you can't read teh whole post, the whole point of it was so that you wouldn't have to back track to reply to something. This quote feature essentially just shows you where you have to back track to it doesn't actually help you in any other way.

I mean i'm better of going like this
"i thought it was really cool the first week. but ever since it seems pretty lame. since u cant quote a specific part of the post it elminates the purpose. it always gets cut off at the end, and you end up backtracking to reread it anyway. it needs to be changed somehow" -Adam
Then using the quote feature the way it is now.

What if you could click on the username in the quote box, and it would automatically send you to the actual post. Then you wouldn't have to scroll up you could just click and it would go up.

i think that when you hit quote reply, a small window should appear, like the way when you click on a member and their profile pops up. then you have the text they wrote, and a reply window. you select from that by highlighting and clicking a "quote" java icon. then it appears in the bottom of the reply window, and the ability to continue what you wanted to write.

I think its more a matter of convenience then how cool it is and it really isn't anymore convenient then what we had before.

I kind of have to agree. While the quote feature is better than using the arrows ^, it is, in a way, impractical because of the limit on characters. Unless sombody says something in the very beginning of their post, the quote feature is nothing more than a fancy way of telling you which reply to backtrack to.
No offense to NoPoles, because it's a great feature, it just needs a little bit more to be perfected.

my favorite is when you agree with somebody like 10 people up, and you do the exacty number of ^'s. "I agree with ^^^^^^^^^"

it IS though, if you're talking to someone that's way above you in the thread. You can use quote and don't have to put 15 little arrows in. That was the biggest point. Just so you could figure out which post you are referring too, not to retype the whole post.

if it's within 5 posts then ^^^ is fine, but when you get to the hot girl thread and you want to point out something on the 32 page or so, and it is on 102 then i'm not really feelin the ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

But look here im quoting your reply and unless you said all you wanted in the frist couple sentences its useless. Instead I can just go like this:
"it IS though, if you're talking to someone that's way above you in the thread. You can use quote and don't have to put 15 little arrows in. That was the biggest point. Just so you could figure out which post you are referring too, not to retype the whole post."
Now everyone knows what your talking about cause everything is there and you don't have to scroll up to finish reading it like you would with a quote.

^ that's all fine and dandy, but the quote feature could be terrible if it retyped the whole post. What if someone type up a huge rant about something or other, and ten people reply to him using the wuote feature. Now you have to scroll through ten huge quotes just to read some useless little replies like "haha yea" or something like that. That's not good.
You have to admit that the quote feature IS more convenient than counting arrows. If you don't admit that much... I dunno.
