anyone know about a site where the origin of twintip skis is written about? (links would be useful)

I think Dynastar was about the first copany to make them for the 3 phils in the 90's & Rossignol
had the powair around the same time & salomon
for J.P. auclair & Mike Douglas

First twin tip, Olin Mark IV (four), circa 1970's for ballet.

K2 Poacher, 164cm only size, soft as wet pasta, 1996.

Salomon 1080 really kicked it off, with the Pow-Air and Enemy closely in tow behind.

That is about as concise and brief as possible.

no the first twin tips were those ones in Freeze that were made in the 1926 or something. they were made of pure maple and had true twins

^yeah 1938. I just read that article yesterday. They said that you could see peole still using them around winter park until the 70's.



Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j

The old wooden twin tip you speak of is posted in my profile pics. The same ski shot for Freeze is in a store in downtown Aspen.

your all wrong. im pretty sure the fischer c4 mogul ski predates the olin mark iv, i have a pair in my garage, they're black with white polka dots on both sides, and are fully twin tipped.

Highly doubt that, everyone in the industry knows that the Olin was the first "modern" twin, menaing it wasn't a full-on wooden ski like the previous one decades earlier.

True, It was a fancy short gay ballet ski, with a
state of the art Honecomb construction, & James Bond used the Olin Mark VI for cliff jumping but it wasn't twin. But I guess the real first twin was the one in Freeze or Freeskier anyone remember which issue I could scan it and post it I guess.
