yes, it was against the kings and the church. Right before the reolution, the king, in name of the church, was murdering entire villages of non-catholics. That is a reason the french revolution started, people were sick of the murders.

about spain and all the religious wars in history: men are sinners. Jesus never asked any war. he wanted people to love each other. you know those wars were much more political than religious.

The Catholic religion is a religion of love and peace. It's the only one of the three great religion where you need to say "i want to be part of it" to be part of it. you do not born christian. The most tolerant religion i know.

I think catholicism has been ruined. Albeit, religion is good when it is used in the righ way. A chruch is ruiend when it starts preachign about taking rights from people and taking a more political root. Although the pope may have been a super guy, much of the church is corrupt.

^i can't tell i do not know it that much. i do not deny the church leaders never made mistakes, but this Pope, Jean Paul II, was amazing and made , to me, all the good choices. he is the best person i've never heard of.

it fells so good to see people all over the world, those 1.100.000.000 catholics gathering and praying together. ireally fell like a part of it. blacks, yellows, latinos, arabs, whites, left hand, right hand, ... we are all brothers. it's good to feel like that. 1.100.000.000 brothers with the same aim, with this soul, loving each other, ... if only it spread and last ....

maybe that's the reason why it's good to be catholic: you're more tolerant, less sure of yourself and ready to talk and try to explain your views to anyone, as your equal.
listen to the religious message skibum. there's a lot to learn here.

as a catholic, as a sinner, i try to do my best to get better and not to be sure of myself.

every person dying is awful. a person close to me as parkinson: the Pope shows how hard it is, catholic show how we must take care of sad and ill people. our societies only take care of beautiful, healthy and rich people. this shows that spirituality is over our material world. through the Pope , we all pray for ill , sad people.

I understand, and completely agree that morals and helping people is great. That is why I align my political beliefs with those who want to help people.

Off topic. Why is it that the most catholic people are often right wing then? Right wing supports death penalty, cutting social secuity and is against universal health care. The last two is all abotu helping the less fortunate. It doesn' make sense to me.

2: political beliefs is totally free from religion. religion never interfere in so precise politics.

Never forget we are all sinners and if some catholics a pro death penalty, it's not because they are catholics. it's just because they are pro death penalty.
Rome, the Pope give us the idle way to be. but no one is forced to do anything: you can be divorced, you can abort, have sex with 200 peoples, ... you're still catholic. it just up to you to come with that burden when you arrive in paradise. catholics always have choice.

Yea its amazing how Africas true religion, Islam, was almost completely wiped out of the continent after the years or European occupation. I'm sure converting made sense to the Europeans and they thought they were doing good, but i think that everyone has their own views of what religion should be and so there really is no religion that could please anyone, which i think is why religion is a waste of time
