man we saw a really really good film tonight. its called nobody knows, directed by Hirokazu Koreeda (Daremo shiranai). check out the trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/nobody_knows_daremo_shiranai.html. the movie isn't for everybody, but if you consider yourself to be someone who is really into "film" then you should definately check it out while its still playing in theaters (select cities). if you've seen any of terrence malicks films (the thin red line) you will probably really like this, due to the editing and cinematography styles, and the way he uses a lot of scenes of what would seem to be not important things to build the atmosphere of the film.
its about 4 kids who are abandoned in their tokyo apartment by their ridiculously irresponsible whore of a mother. the kid playing the main character won best actor at the cannes film festival, hes probably 14 years old?
the film is long and perhaps a little slow in places, but as i said for those that truly appreciate a good film its well worth your time as i found myself appreciating the movie almost shot for shot. and the important aspects of the film are well worth the stints of observation in between.
yo recommendo for suro.
jackson sucks. tell your friends.
