always better to get a binding with a higher din, especially if they are salomon. Most salomon bindings start at a 5 din, and for freeriding, take the reccommended din setting, and crank it up 3 numbers minimum. For example, my size, the reccommended din for Look bindings is 8, but i set them at 13. Now you would think, ok, get the 14 din binding than....not a wise choice if the difference in price is minimal. a 13 din on a 14 spring binding is not going to be as strong and consistant as a 13 din on an 18 spring binding, simply because of tension on the springs and the elastic.
I highly reccommend anybody that is between 150 and 180lbs to go with a 14 din binding. A 12 din binding will work, but i wouldnt crank them past 10.5.
my 2 cents
