They generally make using a computer much more fun, a bit more simple, and very user friendly. And they look fucking cool.

But some "hardcore" computer people get all butt hurt when you mention them. Don't mind it, they hate life.

they are easier so navigate and what not and spyware dont attack them as much but in my opinion until macs can run XP or vista as the same speed as a PC they are infeiror (not trying to start anything)

The OS just makes more sense to me in general.
More user-friendly
They run smoother
No one writes virus's for them

Yet I own a PC. It's pretty fancy and I don't really have any problems with it other than it has randomly crashed probably 10 times since I got it (last summer), and  I've gotten hardcore virus's twice, to the point where I had to pretty much start everything over, and the second time I caught it early enough for a system restore to take care of it.

I'm intrigued to see what asian_allen's post is going to be..

the reason i wont ever get a windows again is because macs dont have a million OS pop ups telling you to update stuff, plus i never have to google how to do anything with my mac. the amount of clicking and level of anger is sooo much smaller with a mac

well as a student i find that they are way easier to use, and the operating system is like made for you. everythings incredibly easy to use, the programs are awsome (such as iphoto and imovie) and its just a lot more organized and neat than others.
i used to have a labtop with xp, but i find theres just so many viruses and programs are sometimes a bitch, applications run smoother for the most part.
you can run microsoft office (which is the program i use alot) and its basically the exact same as the xp one.
i hate vista just because its everything you dont want in a os, it crashes alot, hard to use (in my opinion) and is slow as a mof (agian in my opinion)

The OS is amazing!
And the screen quality is great, much better than the average PC

i dont know...  not a huge fan...  it probably comes from the fact that the only macs i have had any contact with are shitty school ones...  i just am not used to the OS personally.

i did like it better, but then i discovered that you can do the same things, just not the exact same way as you did it on windows. all the features are still there, you just need to know where to find them.

yeah, macs are user friendly, at the moment they dont have to many viruses for them and they run fairly smooth.

but here's the thing. You going to pay twice as much for a mac than the equal spec PC (around twice as much, it varies). pick the top of the line mac and you can get a pc with the same components for a lot less

Also, if your know about computers (you'll most likely have a pc already anyway) you will know how to get your computer running smooth and virus free. In over a year with my Dell laptop, my computer has run smooth with vista and i've had minimul problems. when i have a problem, i restart and its no big deal. its not the end of the world, everyone is just impatient. And i've gotten 1 bad virus in my over a year with the computer. and i got rid of the virus and recovered everything from my computer, no big deal, never had to reformat or anything.

basically if you know what your doing, a PC will not be a problem at all

btw, why do they use PC? PC stands for personal computer... a mac is a personal computer... mac is just a brand name, like dell or HP. we gotta start using windows and osx to be proper

ok, im looking to get a Laptop and most likely wont get a Macbook primarily cause im not comfortable with a mac and i know my way around a PC really well but i was wondering...  outside of Apple users screaming at me to get a Macbook what is a good brand of laptop to look at?

forgot to mention im going to get it for college....  so i just need basics like word processing, iTunes for my tunes, and an internet browser....  prefer a big hard drive and a fair amount of ram too.

plus, Mac's come standard with a LED-backlit glossy widescreen, which is an extra on Dells

but HP would be a good bet to go with, if i didnt have a mac a HP would be my second choice.  everyone else in my family uses HP without issue, and i find it to be about the same but a little slower (but im sure someone with more comp experience could fix this quickly)

let me break down this post it should help the OPs understanding

1. he onws a pretty fancy pc. this tells us two things, one that he doesnt have a stock out of the box pc that in some way he upgraded it or moddeded and that two he is technically savvy enough to do that.
2. despite his computer nerdyness his pc has still crashed roughly 10 times and gotten two hardcore viruses in a total of one year.

i on the other hand own an out of the box mac that i have never done anything at all to protect. i download thousand of kb of potentially virus containing music and video and watch hours of porn. basically my mac hangs out in the whore houses and crackhouses of the internet. two years and still going strong!

no. I download 55 gigs of music, all torrents. i download movies and programs and what ever else i need to download too. i watch as much porn as i need to watch. I have a PC. I have no problems

the key to a PC is YOU CAN'T BE AN IDIOT. and thats it. macs are for people who are not tech savvy or that just dont care. With a PC, you gotta be more cautious but with that comes great preformance, price, and other things

Basically, a Mac is like an automatic car, a PC is like a manual.

im a mac user too, i find it easier to operate and more care free, i can operate a pc fine and can keep it running, but im lazy.  I DO hate auto cars though, i dont feel right driving one

Personally i dont find macs easier to navigate at all... I have never used a PC and been like "how the fuck do i do this?" or "I wish this was easier to do".

i think its a matter of personal preference really.

also, macs are inferior to PCs when it comes to price vs. performance. the hardware in PCs is much faster than macs....

also you can game on PCs if you care.



To answer the OPs question. They are not better. Its a matter of personal preference.

i have no complaints on the 3g's i dropped for my laptop.
every issue i've had was fixed for free. i've had parts replaced without costing me a dime.(mind you i dropped my laptop on the ground and it got fucked up so...they didn't know it though)
i don't have viruses, the one virus created for mac had to be approved by the user and you have to put in your password.
it's great for photoshop, illustrator, adobe everything, final cut, web design programs, even ipods are more likely to function properly when used with a mac, knowingly from experience.
i did hear about the screen thing, and it makes sense seeing how most programs for mac are for aesthetics and visual arts.
the logic board alone costs 2000$ on a macbook pro, that's why they're expensive.
i never have to defrag
my computer doesnt lag
it looks good
it works perfectly after 3 years(i've been using them since 04)
updates are less annoying, take less time to dl, in my experience.
multitasking is easy as shit
keyboard shortcuts galore
they're light and thin
if you dont wan't to spend 3000$ you can buy a cheaper one for about half the price.
the whole layout is more aesthetically pleasing.
i find vista and all new windows programs completely difficult to use and their new appearances horrible and confusing.
great for dling music/videos, use azureus
everything in a mac is made by mac, so there's less problems
it's also not supposed to crash very rarely will it ever
their new chargers are great because they're magnets, so if you walk on your wire your laptop wont come flying off the desk.

i mean, i also use all the programs i listed above too...i got a mac for school because i was doing digital design, photography, and cinema, now i do fashion design, so it's all useful to me.
anyways if you buy a desktop mac you can still add more ram and gigs and etc if you have to

i find its quick, and rarely ever lags like pcs do

mac = diy
pc = crunching numbers & gaming

OP: Whereas PCs are made by two different companies (Microsoft and whatever manufacturer -- HP, Dell, Acer, whatever -- you purchase from), Macs are made solely by Apple. So you're less likely to have problems because the software is made specifically for the hardware. Windows is not made for one specific piece of hardware - it's made for hundreds to thousands of different hardware configurations/etc. so you're more likely to run into problems.

Plus I'd get a Mac just for iLife.

By the way, I use Windows, not Macs, so I'm 100% objective.

Its true, Mac's don't have viruses yet and Windows PC's do.

So who would you rather sleep with, the hot chick with no STD's (yet) or the ugly one that everyone has had a go on and is full of STD's.

Plus Mac's are easier to use, and for the average person who isn't that technically savvy, i.e a fair majority of people, this is what they want, out of the box ease of use. But they are also great machines if you know how to use them.

As are Windows PC's but its my experience that most Windows users don't have much clue on how their Windows PC works. I regularly look at Windows PC's and people have a whole load of programs running they didn't know about, plus both their Wifi and Bluetooth will be turned on all the time. Where as with Macs this is hardly ever the case.

The easiest way to describe it is that using a Mac, it feels like its working with you. But with a PC it feels like it working against you.
