Smith Gage 2012

I got this helmet for a really good deal and have really liked it so far with some reservations.

First the good: The helmet looks great and seems like it will do a good job protecting my head. It does not have a lot of vents which I actually like since I usually hike with my helmet off anyway. It works well with goggles either over or under it.

The bad: The ear pads really do suck. They slide out of the helmet and are really not worth the energy to get them to stay in place. This is fine with me anyway since I bike with this helmet as well and so I took them out anyway. They do have a pocket for headphones if you so desire but I would recommend gluing them up into the helmet if you keep them on it. The helmet is also not super adjustable and it has a plastic cradle in the back of it to keep it on your head that can be a bit uncomfortable if you put in on wrong. It also is a bit big so some hoods may not fit over it.

All in all this is a good helmet with some small problems.
