I might just be tired and not thinking right... but

wouldn't it be the best thing you ever lost? which makes the whole losing scenario the worst?
and losing the worst thing would be minuscule, if not a good thing?
for instance,

lost and retrieved
my complete ski-gear, travelling bag with gear, cameras, a laptop and cloths and a skibag with 2 pairs of skis and my boots, i simply left em outside of the hotel, only noticed it 2h later, drove back and they were still in the exact same spot :)
lucky me!

lost and not retrieved would be my leatherman and some SD cards ...

One of my ridiculously expensive bespoke leather gloves hand made in England.
It fell out of my pocket in the tram.
I raged sensibly for several hours in my study,


I've lost a camera (without sd card) before but that was easy to replace and cheaper.
For the rest I've never lost another thing.

i used to snowboard. i broke my board one day and my friend loaned me his which got stolen two days later.

my friend and i also dropped an ounce bag in my driveway one time before we went out for the night, and the girl who was dog sitting for my family found it and threw it away. i damn near cried.

lost one ski on a deep pow day in the UP of michigan because the brake wasn't working properly. somebody wound up finding it several hours later. thank k2 for bright colored skis and bases.

but i've lost a wallet with around $300 in it on two occasions

Lost my insulin pump over the summer for a solid 3 hours. Turns out I dropped it in my friend's backyard when we were coming in from a night swim in the lake during a party. Scariest moment of my life haha. Thought I was about to have to call my parents and tell them I just lost a $6,000 piece of equipment while drinking.

I lost my phone once for a good month. I eventually found that I had dropped in while in my attic and it had fallen between the wall and the giant pegboard that covers my hole wall. I saw it through the holes at the bottom one day. No shit. I was more baffled than happy when I found it.

I'm really bad( good) at losing things. I've lost 2 ipods, 2 wallets, 4 phones, 2 expensive watches. I also lost my passport but that's sorted now. Wallet losses are always the worst because you have to replace all the cards as well as losing the money inside. So paranoid about losing expensive items now it's unreal.

lost my leatherman when I dumped my kayak in a flooded creek once. Went back a week later when the water was low and found it on the bottom.

Lost a personalized flask that I got for being in a wedding party while drinking and kayaking. Flasks don't float kids, even when half full. Never found it.

Bailed out of my kayak in a flood this summer and it got swept away as it was after dark and we couldn't chase, paddle too. Went back the next day and found the boat hung up about a quarter mile down stream. Went back the following day and found the paddle about three miles downstream on an island.

Ive lost an Ipod touch, set of roller blades, and countless wallets.

I no have 2 wallets. One for drinking, and one for everything else. I only keep one of my older ID's and a debit card in the drinking wallet so I dont have to keep getting all new cards every time it happens haha.

They just kind of disappeared. Went to a friends house with them on, left them there when we went out for the evening. Came back and they were gone. He wouldn't have stolen them and we searched the house.

2 chinchillas while house sitting. luckily i had a week to bait and trap the lil fuckers before the owners came home. managed to recapture them both the day before the family got home. seeing that empty cage was one of the worst feelings.

in my room, before i went to college i stashed a bunch of stuff. i had about $800 in cash, some condoms and about $400 in adderall. when i came back home two months later, only the cash was gone. it was my entire summeer savings and i dont know if my parents found it, the lady who cleans our house found it, or if it is just lost :(
