La Niña Forecast Expected to Bring Heavy Snowfall to Whistler Blackcomb This Winter

WHISTLER, BC, August 25, 2011 - The long-range weather forecast calling for another La Niña weather system has skiers and riders antsy for Winter 2011.2012. Early Bird Season Passes are now on sale. From now, through to October 10 an Unlimited Adult Season Pass is available for the Early Bird price of $1,429 - a savings of $300 – offering the best value for guests looking to ski/ride at Whistler Blackcomb.

An Early Bird Unlimited Senior’s Season Pass is available for $739, a savings of $176. An Early Bird Unlimited Youth (13-18) Season Pass is $649, saving guests $63. Meanwhile, an Unlimited Child (7-12) Season Pass is priced at $399, saving $110 before October 10.

La Niña...

La Niña is an ocean-atmosphere climate pattern that brings high precipitation and cooler temperatures to the Pacific Northwest region. Last year’s La Niña weather pattern resulted in the second snowiest season on record, with a total of 1,579 centimetres or 51.8 feet. Whistler Blackcomb receives an annual average snowfall of 1,042cm or 34.1ft.
