WHISTLER, BC, February 6, 2008 - Twenty-five years ago, World Cup Downhill Skier and Crazy Canuck Dave Murray started a ski camp at Whistler Blackcomb for adult intermediate and expert skiers wanting to take their skiing to the next level. He gathered some of the world’s best ski coaches and created the legendary Dave Murray Ski Camps.

The camps are addictive and 25 years later, Dave Murray’s vision is still going strong. Coaches are still committed to results in all kinds of conditions - groomers, gates, powder or the steeps. The three-day camps include coaching by the most qualified and expert coaches in the country, video analysis, and private hill space. It’s part of the Dave Murray magic.

“We have morphed the camps from strictly gates to a well rounded ski experience. Now skiers can improve certain skills and apply it to all mountain skiing. Dave Murray’s vision was to create a place where skiers could learn the latest techniques and in the process he set the standard for instructional camps in North America,” said Otto Kamstra, Whistler Blackcomb ski and snowboard school general manager.

To celebrate 25 years of operation, the official 25th Anniversary Dave Murray Ski Camp is kicking off April 7 to 9. Head Coach Tom Prochazka said it is going to be festive camp with lots of nostalgia.

“Most of us have been with the camps since the beginning. In fact I am in Whistler because of Dave Murray. We are more of a family and skiers come back year after year. Dave Murray’s spirit lives on through these camps. It’s a place to learn from the best and improve your skiing,” said Tom Prochazka.

Dave Murray Ski Camps are held Monday to Wednesday every week until April 7. The three-day camps cost $359 and rates do not include lift ticket or rental equipment. Call 1-888-403-4727 to reserve a place in a Dave Murray Ski Camp or for more information check out whistlerblackcomb.com.
