ALERT: 15CM FRESH SNOW IN PAST SEVEN DAYS!

Perisher Blue has received 15cm of fresh snow in the last seven days after the 7cm that fell on Sunday night. This has supplemented the good cover across the resort making for fantastic springtime skiing and snowboarding right through to the end of the season on 1 October 2007.

Perisher Blue has offered excellent skiing and snowboarding across its four resort areas for the majority of the current 2007 season, which started one day ahead of schedule on 8 June thanks to considerable early season snowfalls.

July saw the best skiing and snowboarding conditions of the season with 138cm of fresh snow falling in the resort during that month alone, on top of the 113cm that fell in the final weeks of June from 9 June 2007.

While August only delivered 30cm of fresh snow, there was plenty of snow and sunshine to offer excellent skiing and snowboarding. These were also ideal conditions for hosting the number of successful events during that month such as the Coca Cola Wild Winter Weekend and the Garnier Fructis Australian Open, presented by Burton.

Due to the early season snowfalls, Perisher Blue was able to open its four Fusion Terrain Parks as well as Australia’s biggest halfpipe, the PSP Superpipe by the end of July. Tube Town was also a highlight with as many as four specially designed lanes and a snow tube tow back to the top.

According to Neil Thew, Public Relations & Business Development Manager, “The season started strong with excellent skiing and snowboarding right from the beginning in June. With the recent snowfalls, it looks like there’ll be fantastic springtime conditions right through to the end. It’s not often you get powder skiing in mid-late September!”

As well as great springtime skiing and snowboarding, the Coca Cola Spring Carnival is currently offering a host of daily entertainment until Sunday 23 September 2007. Entertainment for the kids includes a jumping castle and bungy trampoline (weather dependent) as well as VIP appearances by Perisher Blue’s mascots and LIVE music daily outside Jax Bar & Chargrill for the adults.
