NOMINEES ANNOUNCED FOR THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY POWDER VIDEO AWARDS & READER POLL PRESENTED BY VERIZON WIRELESS AND SAMSUNG

Reader Poll Closes with Record Breaking Number of Votes

DANA POINT, Calif. (Jan. 14, 2010) —Every year film companies submit their entries for consideration and every year the debates become more heated, but after much deliberation by Powder’s panel of expert judges, the nominees for the 10th Anniversary Powder Video Awards (PVA) & Reader Poll presented by Verizon Wireless and Samsung have been determined.

“It’s never an easy task,” admits Powder Editor, Derek Taylor. “This year was no exception, but that’s a real testament to the quality of the filmmaking and the undeniable skill of the athletes. If it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing.” Topics of particular contention this year were the nominees for “Best Male” and “Full Throttle.” For a behind-the-scenes look at how these decisions got made click here, but be forewarned that it didn’t happen without a few insults, some mockery and unabashed grandstanding.

Regardless of the means however, the nominees have been selected. Of the two dozen films considered, the nominees for the coveted “Movie of the Year” award are: In Deep by MSP Films, Everyday is a Saturday by Poor Boyz Productions, Refresh by Level 1 Productions, Wild Stallions by Meathead Films and Re:Session by Teton Gravity Research.
