January 10, 2010 will
be “extraordinary” for
Kids 12 and under.
Monarch
Mountain is hosting a special day for kids 12 and under as part of the 70th
platinum anniversary season celebration. Kid Fest 2010 will consist of FREE activities,
contests, games and prizes for the young ones on Sunday, January 10, 2010.
Kids
will be able to participate in programs both on and off the snow. Young skiers and snowboarders of all levels
will be able to participate in two “expression sessions”. The experienced
riders will start at 1:00pm in the Tilt Terrain
Park; these junior shredders can show off their best moves for prizes. Less experienced skiers/riders or those with
special needs will have their own fun box at the base of the Monarch Mountain. The Option 23 Freeride team will be on hand
to assist the little ones and start them out safely.
All
children will be able to participate in numerous contests for fun and
prizes. Teams of five will compete in a
snowman building contest starting with a pile of snow and supplies, where kids
will be encouraged to use their imaginations in snowman creation. There will be a hard boiled egg toss, a can
knockdown, a bean bag toss and an obstacle course for a little friendly
competition.
A
tent at the base of Monarch
Mountain will be reserved
for Kid Fest 2010 activities. The tent
there will host art and craft activities; butterfly mask painting, safety
poster coloring and face painting. A
Monarch butterfly hunt is scheduled in the afternoon. Kids will search for hidden
Monarch butterflies around the base of Monarch Mountain.
All
events will be hosted by MC Safety Sam, Monarch’s “uber cool” safety
mascot. Closing Ceremonies at 3:00pm will
announce the day’s winners and award prizes which include season passes, day
tickets, ski merchandise and toys.
Monarch
Mountain is a Colorado family favorite; kids six and under ski free every
day. At Monarch you’ll lose the crowds
but not your family. More information
